PCSX won't run Final Fantasy 8 or 9

I am using PCSX reloaded 1.9.92 on mac OSX 10.6.8 and I've been able to play through the PSX versions of Final Fantasy 4-7 with few problems, but it just doesn't seem to want to work for 8 and 9. I'm using the original game discs, not downloaded ISOs, but all I'm getting is a blank screen. I've tried adjusting the sound and graphics options, as well as running the games with different BIOS, but nothing seems to work. I just don't understand why the other games worked but not these, as I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be compatible with PCSX. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

try making images of your discs and play from them.

Thanks. Just one thing: I can't use CloneCD because I'm using a mac. Is there anything else I can use to make images of the discs?

you can use something like alcohol 120 or one of the other programs that are listed in that tutorial thread.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but I don't think any of them work on a mac.
