PCSX2 1.0 Released

Quote:
After many long years of development, debugging and testing effort, we have reached a point where PCSX2 runs a great majority of the games, and there are no important issues that could possibly be fixed without requiring major modifications to the emulator.

Because of that (and because we already felt it was overdue), we decided to stop thinking of new things to do for a bit, polish the stability, compatibility and existing features and release the result as the first major version of PCSX2!

There have been tons of changes since the last release, including improvements to Jake Stine's wxWidgets GUI overhaul, cottonvibe's new multithreaded VU core and improvements on the primary plugins.

This release is a big milestone that marks the way to new features and improvements!

PCSX2 can now utilize 3 cores.

The emulator has come a very long way, congrats to the dev team.

This new version looks so different. I've forgotten everything about pcsx2.

Man, I don't think I'll even be able to run this at a decent speed, but I'm still super excited for these guys though! Any change speed wise that anyone can notice??

And i utilizes those 3 cores mainly on Intel CPU's, it doesn't work that good with AMD from what i've seen . But still it did come a long way, congrats to the team, both current ones and the ones that retired.

I remember you did test the extra core options and even on yours it proved more useful then on an AMD processor.

well its still not really full speed on some games as i have to enable a speedhack (vu cycle stealing lvl1) to skip some frames on heavy load situations.

The MTVU hack might give a nice speed boost in many games, but in others might do nothing, make it slower or just make the game not boot at all. So just keep that in mind when messing with that hack.

As for myself, I only have 2 cores so...

It's true that Intel owns the emulator. My 560 at 4ghz x4 struggles with P4, FF12 and FFX on high resolutions. My old e8400 tore through FFX and and FF12 with ease.
