This is awesome, Helen Glover and Heather Stanning in the womens pair rowing claimed gold, first gold for GB and first gold of it's kind in the women's double. The girls absolutely dominated out of the gate and continued a massive lead the entire race, really awesome to watch.

Women's 100m hurdles, GB makes a new world record in the heats. Amazing stuff.

Parents of the Australian swimming team are angry that their children aren't winning medals, complaining about funding and a whole bunch of nonsense. The Aus swimming team has some of the best funding out of all the sports in the nation, because of the 2000 Olympic games, all funding for awesome sports like Tug-of-war was removed and they have the audacity to complain.

Entitled arseholes.

Australia vs Russia in womens basketball, for the first time in Olympics history a woman has dunked the ball. Liz Cambage of the Aus Opels cranks down a dunk, girl is 6'8 and was born in 91. Yikes.

http://lovewomensbasketball.com/2012...gainst-russia/

Phelps now has 20 medals. 20 goddamn medals. Man is a superstar.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18912325

Also watching the mens 400m hurdling, Japanese competitor competed with an injury, came last and did his leg in on the first hurdle, regardless he finished the race like a soldier. After the race however, not a single person did anything to help the guy off the track, he had to stumble, hobble, struggle, do anything to get out of the field and out of the arena so to speak on his own. No other athlete or official helped him and it really bugged me to see that.

Beach Volleyball has been phenomenal, huge crowds, big rallies and fine butts.

Also, CONTROVERSY TIME!

Let's start with boxing (how unsurprising).

The Iranian boxer was furious after being disqualified after receiving 3 warnings. According to the rules after the 4th warning you are disqualified, and his warnings were given after excessive holding. In boxing.

He claims it's a conspiracy against him, and that he "could have got a bronze easily", guy sounds like a dildo.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19095408

After the shenanigans in the badminton regarding Indonesia, China and South Korea, all teams have been suspended from competition and are under investigation. One player has quit the sport all together and a probe is in progress. Really souring the great sport that is Badminton (seriously watch it, it's insane).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19091234

Japan has won an appeal after a baffling decision in the boxing, after knocking down his opponent 5 times, but trailing in the points, the Japanese boxer ended up losing, the crowd however was dirty about the whole thing, as the match should have been stopped. The referee has been fired as a result.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19088420

But to finish with something more heart warming, the first Saudi women athlete in an olympics ever has competed in the judo, she is only a blue belt, was allowed to wear a black to compete, is only 16 years old and was beaten fairly convincingly, but circumstance aside, she is breaking ground and it's fantastic. There was some hubub about her not being allowed to wear a scarf during the event, fears of safety and it not following the guide lines of the sport, but they were able to compromise with her wearing a tight beanie or something during competition, this is such a positive move by both parties and great to see.

****ing love the Olympics man.

Wow our broadcasts of the Olympics have been terrible generally focusing on soccer or tennis or other more obscure events...and then when they have the time to give us a quick review show of the other day's events they instead chuck in some retard hipster show about all the parties going on during the Olympics...

The Olympic committee has always put full stock into the swimmers, this year however our athletes just haven't been as dominating as they were back in 2000. Other Nations have really upped their game too which is good to see.

It's pretty funny to see so much anger from the swimmers parents, angry their precious little athletes aren't getting gold.

Ace, have you been to any of the events?

its hard getting the tickets, once my friends come from they holidays on Monday, I'm going to try harder getting the tickets, if it means going though shady routes. i really wanted to go to the 100m final. another thing its kind of bull****, ive heard alot of the events have empty seats but no tickets.

the Olympic park is only 15 minute drive from my house.

I saw an Afghan woman in one of the running events yesterday. It must have been really uncomfortable to be wearing full-body clothing while trying to run - might explain why she came dead-last.

Konami has won Olympic Gold.

Source - Konami Goes For Gold

Quote:

Well it looks like Konami is at it again. Kohei Uchimara who works for Konami Sports & Life Co. has just won the gold medal for the men’s individual all-around gymnastics at the London 2012 Olympics.

For those of you who do not know, Konami Sports & Life Co. is a subsidiary of Konami that aims at “providing you an enjoyable and valuable time within your daily life through health and fitness,” according to message from the program’s representative director.

A post on the official site for Konami reads,
Quote:
“Kohei Uchimura has won the gold medal in men’s individual all-around gymnastics at the London Olympic Games. Konami Sports & Life Co., Ltd. would like to congratulate Uchimura on this great accomplishment, and extend appreciation to his many supporters and fans. A total of 3 Konami employees were privileged with the honor of representing Japan in gymnastics for this year’s London Olympics. These athletes from the KONAMI Gymnastics Team were Koji Yamamuro, Yusuke Tanaka, and the aforementioned Kohei Uchimura. A great thanks to all fans of these gymnasts for your undying support. Konami will, as a JOC Partner, continue to aid in the further development and popularization of sports.”
As you can probably assume, this has brought great honor for Uchimara and he will likely be greeted greatly when he returns home to Japan.

There must be something wrong with 110m hurdles, there's so many runners falling, I've never seen anything like this. Three of them fell just now!
