Final Fantasy VIII annd IX Battle Menu
Well, I've been playing both games on ePSXe 1.6, I have no problems EXCEPT for the battle menus flickering. I've seen posts regarding to no battle menus. I can see my battle menu, but it's flickering. I've reach disc 2 on FFIX with no problems. I just wanna know if it can be fixed? 'Coz sometimes, it's irritating and I can't see some commands. BTW, I got these settings from this compatibility http://forums.ngemu.com/showthread.php?t=49711 thread and some recommendations there. |

Try 1.77 instead of 1.74. There are special game fixes for both ff7 and ff9 - use them. Also try turning off alpha multipass, change offscreen drawing to 2, and framebuffer access to 3. Other than that, minimize settings where possible if you still have issues. I've played both of these with these or very similar settings with no issues.

I'm using 1.76. LOL. Does that make a difference?

Hmm, okay... I changed to the settings you gave me, except that I still used 1.76. It fixed the flickering menu ( YAAY!), but the field icons are now weird. o_O The balloons are now black. And the ?s and !s are also black with with borders. I can still identify which is which. I enabled special game fixes and the G4 Polygon Cache. Maybe I really need to use 1.77? Or I just have a crappy laptop. BTW, I know that it's not advisable to emulate on a laptop. I'm just curious if it can be fixed since my other games play smoothly.
