Resident Evil 2 OpenGL2 config
I've seen that many people are having problems with Resident Evil games so I've decided to make a config guide. I played the Dual Shock version of the game but that should not matter much, config is the same for the other versions. Usual problems: FMV cutscenes are not working. Random crashes throughout the game. Speech cuts off mid cutscenes. Fixes: Use a 1.6.0 version of ePSXe, 1.7.0 has issues with the game. Video plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 2.9. Sound Plugin: ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2. (First 3 checkboxes ticked). CD-Rom plugin: WNT/W2K core 1.5.2 (All checkboxes unticked). Running the game with Run CDROM command and not Run ISO. Using an ISO image is recommended and therefore usage of Daemon Tools Lite (free version) is advised (make sure to add SCSI drive, not DT drive). This is how video plugin should be configured: OGL RE2 config.png Game screenshot: RE2 screen.jpg Thanks to all the people on this forum who contributed information about fixing specific issues. If You encounter any problems using this config or have a suggestion, please post in this thread.

Is this game difficult to get right? I used my standard one I originally made for Final Fantasy IX and noticed no issues in any of the first three Resident Evil games. The only I had trouble with was Final Fantasy VIII.

You can use epsxe "shark" to play RE 1 and 2. (3 have graphical errors). I tested RE2 both disc, and dont freeze in any scene.

@Princess Garnet: It's not difficult but it can be annoying to find the right config. The key is that ePSXe 1.6.0 must be used and subchannel reading must be unticked. Luckily the solution was posted by forum members so I decided to put it all under one thread. I was playing the game on Xebra too and it worked perfectly most of the game. Unfortunately it randomly hanged at some point so I turned to ePSXe.

Whilst I haven't tried the Resi games on 1.8 yet, I know the last time I tried Resi 3 on 1.7 it just wouldn't work. And whilst Dino Crisis plays great on 1.8, the cutscenes speed by at double speed whilst the audio plays perfectly. |
