PCSXR Cheats?

Hi, I've scavenged the internet hard to find out if there is any way to use cheats for the PCSXR emulator for a Mac. I haven't had such luck. I was wondering if there's a solution anyone can recommend.

I'm currently re-playing Final Fantasy VII and would like to play through it for the story, and not spend needless hours levelling up my players. I noticed that you can select a memory card with a .gme file extension under preferences, so I figured I could download a game save off GameFaqs and load that as the primary memory card, but the game save does not show up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
