No reason outside the obvious one. I just wanted to see how far it could pushed. I could have pushed it more, as it was still under 70C. At 70C Kepler cards throttle down to the next performance bracket.

I was surprised a reference card could get that high. I saw 1300mhz on Heaven at one point.

Another point is I saw no need for fan profiles. I just set the fan manually to 80%.....it's quiet even at that speed.

What is the obvious one? Because you're not really a PC gamer and tend to play most things on the your PS3.

And I agree, forget fan profiles, just set the fan manually.

Well a card is used for more than just gaming. I like being able to play PCSX2 in high res. Also my old onboard couldn't run both my monitors simultaneously at 60hz..

^I do agree with that, on my end for instance i can't wait for more apps to take advantage of AMD's APP... for instance in video conversions it really offers a big boost.

Well yes but a card with half the power would already have given you most if not all of the boost needed to achieve those goals. Certainly no need to OC it.

That desk looks so sad next to that kickass case and the system it contains.

Why does the side vent already look dusty?

Otherwise, nice. My desk isn't as bad off (so far as being worn) as yours, but I want a smaller and newer one myself.

The HDD side fans are sucking through lots of air and the dust is already starting to pile up on the side vents.

I cleaned the vents just after I took that photo.

My desk is even worse than it looks.
I don't trust it at all as it feels very unstable these days.

I have my eye out for a good corner desk (L shape) that has a keyboard drawer.

Never could use those, my arms/shoulders always get tired way too fast, as they're at an awkward angle.

He was but since he needs to move out and find a new place to live that ended up a bit too expensive, especially considering his current rig is still decent.

^^What Schumi said.
I have 13 days left to find new accommodation and move so I'm saving my money for now.
I get a bit of money again in January so that's when I will probably do a bigger upgrade now.

Although having said that I have spent a bit of money recently so I can't spend anymore (See pics of new games thread)

As I already mentioned in the "Welcome back/Leaving" thread the desk above didn't survive my recent move.

RIP desk and here is hoping I find a good desk at a sweet price soon.

Was given an Alienware Aurora to fix. I have always thought OEM had some interesting deviations from the norm.

To get into the Case, press down here

A similar motion reveals the front connectivity ports

Slide the front down to access the optical drives.

Has dust shields in 3 places. The Horizontal one locks into expansion ports.

Instead having one mobo, the Aurora has multiple daughter boards, to me a very cool idea.

Top one

This largish one is near the front, normally obscured by a fan.

This particular system had a GTX260 (Normal Core). The blade on the front locks it into the front expansion bracket.

Notice the dust.

Alienware choose heavy duty Delta fans similar to mine, but not as high CFM. And much, much quieter.

The system is liquid cooled (Stock clocked i7 920 D0). The pump is integrated into the CPU block. Pretty cool.

Cable management rack

Hard drive bays

Case side is electronic (Glows different colors)

The effect is powered by another daughter board, this time mounted on the PSU.

Even the inside panel has some nice designs.

No idea what was going on in this picture.

SO overpriced, but built very well. It's heavy, over 45 pounds. And as much as I shifted it about, not a drop of coolant spilled....amazing as this computer is 2009/2010.

My current system is pretty reserved and all about function.
A great improvement over my old 2600k/570 for like 1/4 the price.

Also, life is messy when you work full time and spend all your free time working at your pc.
