Avalon Code Rom - Stuck on "Initializing Date"

I have downloaded several Roms for the game Avalon Code, and yet every time I try to play them they get stuck on a screen that says "Initializing Data." I have waited and waited, but it never leaves this screen. I have not had a problem like this with any of my other games. I have downloaded the rom from several sites, and none of them work. I have also tried changing my settings, but that doesn't help either. What do I need to do to fix this?

And, if this can't be fixed, will this only be a problem on No$GBA, or will I be able to play it if I were to put it on my R4DS SDHC card?
