A schoolfriend introduced me to No$GMB (the DOS version) and Pokémon. Darn, now that I think about it, that was more than a decade ago. How time flies.

I saw a friend play one of the original Pokemon games in 2000 or so. I wasn't too interested in it, both because the particular emulator didn't seem to be too user-friendly, and he wouldn't let me try it (he hogged the PC to himself). I first got interested in it in late 2001, when I was in high school. Some of the other students in one of my classes were playing SNES games instead of doing their typing lessons .For me, my interest grew in Genesis/MD emulation, then eventually I stumbled here and started emulating the PSX as well.

:3. Ahhhh, the first time I've ever heard of emulation... It feels like I just entered a new realm of offline arcade gaming. I got into it because I hated wasting money on playing old school arcade games at Dave and Busters, then I got into MAME, which plays arcade games. Then I wanted to play old school PS1 games, because my PS1 broke, then got into ePSXe, then so on and so forth. :3

I read in a Brazilian magazine about the DOS-UAE emulator. It said about some other emulators, like fMSX, Nesticle, the emulators of that time, but the main subject was UAE. That sounded amazing for me, a miracle. In fact thats the same that the magazine said. Finally I could sell my old, broke A500 and use a PC to play games. Better than this, only a shining new A1200. It was in a time where Internet access was in the beginning. Since them I tried to look everywhere to find that program, which in that time it was in its infancy, and only loaded Workbench, DPaint and other few. In circa 2001, I got a dial-up Internet access and finally could download a copy of that program and could test it myself. And of a few others. Since I discovered WinUAE, I discovered also my love for emulation and old systems, mainly 8-bit computers and video-games. |

I was looking for a Donkey Kong online game and through a few clicks I discovered that an entire library of Super Nintendo games can be played offline via the use of an emulator. I downloaded my first game from Brothersoft, then I searched about emulators further until I discovered that other systems can be emulated as well.

My C64 blew up and a guy who ran a computer store found a C64 emulator while in Pittsburgh, and gave it to me. Later on when on the net I Google'd emulation and found MAME.

I first found emulation actually by accident on the internet. I was on ebay looking for Robotrek on the snes. An awesome game from ENIX. I used to buy from estarland, but somehow I came across an old dragon warrior game from emulation. It's weird how I stumbled upon the fact I could now download robotrek. At the time though they'd tell you to delete in 24 hours and so on and so forth. I still buy games, but I still like playing emulated games from time to time. You don't need a cartridge for it and you just click and play.

The first emu I saw, was a very ancient DOS build for MAME... I didn't even paid minimun attention to it... Years later, I wanted to play a Macross VFX, and I didn't own a Playstation... so I tried PSEMU (for DOS, by Duddie)... and it didn't run at all... So I decided to code my own PSEMU... and here I am

Somewhere around fall 2005/early 2006 when I met WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2006 and I only had PS1... :/ (that was when I REALLY got into knowing what's emulation) Otherwise my first recollection of what is emulator was in 2003-2004 with my desire to re-play old classic sonic games because my genesis was dead from a long time and it felt like an eternity since I've played Sonic for the last time

Would have to be 08/09 lookin to play snes classics online. it went from either zsnes/snex9 to gba-epsxe-pj64/mupen64-pcsx2. I lived in rural alaska so stuff are petty expensive to order, so was bandwidth(2gigs/month with 1 cent/mb after that 2gig cap).
