Black Screen problem

Iv recently redownloaded ePSXe, and I have all my configs set up to the recommended (video/sound/bios etc), however whenI insert my disc (wanting to play my disc copy of Yugioh Forbidden Memories EU (PAL), and click Run CDROM I get a Black Screen show up, now I know the disc works fine, and I can get into my BIOS fine, so what can I do to fix this so I can start playing again

try making an image of your disc in .ccd format.

i made a copy of it in ISO format and it does the same, does CCD make any difference?

yes because it includes the subchannel data, the other does not.

well reading the link you shared i can see that its about burning a copy to a blank disc which i dont do these days, what i have been doing is creating virtual discs and mounting them to virtual drives or loading the disc straight from the program

try .bin/.cue then. im not entirely sure if that format will work for you though. the problem you are having is most likely being caused by the copy protection that is found on most PAL region games, by using an image format that includes the subchannel data you should be able to get around it.

there is a Run ISO option in epsxe so not sure whats going on as i know the disc works and even the original disc wont run in epsxe, i just get a black screen which is what i want fixed

the run ISO is want you want to use when working with disc images but you first need to make sure you are using the correct image format otherwise you will just get a black screen because of the copy protection. with PAL games you MUST be using one that includes the subchannel data.

got it working, what i done was get that epsxe shark from this forum, used the epsxe170, done the subchannel on the cdrom drive, nosound and a d3d video plugin, loaded cdrom and it worked
