:/, I'm not sure if having this counts as LEGAL.

Well, sorry for bring not such a bad boy like you are, but I wanted to download ePSXe on my new computer (Haven't used at my friend's it in a long time). I realized that I needed the BIOS, but it says it is illegal to own the BIOS without owning an actual Playstation . I have one, but it's broken . Does that still count as legal to download the BIOS?

Use the bios from your own individual console, otherwise it is illegal.

broken console is now an invalid excuse as you can get devices like progskeet and solder it on non working devices and still download the bios or change it

Use the BIOS that you got, seriously who really cares...
For what it's worth you could have really got it when the PSX worked fine.

As for games you should use legit copies because it's been proven many times that
there are shady copies on the Internet which may cause unexpected behavior (and it's illegal).

So, I HAVE to get it from my Playstation itself? There's no point in downloading the copies from the internet? I do have a broken one.

you dont HAVE to do anything, where you get it from is your buisness really but if you want to keep things legal you should dump the BIOS from your own console.

Just download the BIOS from the net. I'm pissed off reading all these holier-than-thou posters who pretend they use their own BIOS or rip their own games. Everybody gets them from the web so just do the same. You can download perfect game rips from Underground Gamer & various other torrent sites.

Just don't be a dick and announce the fact and you'll be fine.

Seriously when did you ever read about anyone getting arrested for emulation of ancient PS1 games?

Exactly.

I don't see many who really do that. Like you said yourself, you just don't talk about fight club

I once got arrested for downloading a gameboy color game, they gave me 25 years.

I'm still in prison, i'm writting this from my prison computer.

Now if you excuse me, my prison mate want to use the computer. They should give me a computer just for myself... bastards.

If I see you two advocating downloading roms/bios/whatever on the net on this site anymore, I am gonna show you my holier-than-thou attitude.
No discussions in regards to illegal activity is allowed here. What you do with your own files/internet is your business - until you start mentioning it here. We had the likes of Sony and Nintendo monitoring our site for years.

Out of curiosity what do Nintendo and Sony lose when people pirate their 10,000 year old software?

Definitely not a realization that all their new products stink and all the cool kids play on emulators. Sony made a step in the right direction with the xperia play, but as usual didn't follow through when skies turned grey.

They're still milking those 10,000 year old software as you put it for what they're worth. PS1/2 titles are on the PS network available for download for a price. Same thing with Nintendo with their re-releases and downloadable content.

Marketing ploys and gimmicks. We allow them to keep milking by paying for data.

Too bad, what they're doing is legal.
Until its copyrights expire, they have the legal rights to sue us.
End of discussion.
