memory cards troubles

i downloaded a game save off of gamefaqs, and for some reason epsxe wont read the save file. i downloaded it, converted it to .mcr, and configured memory card slot 1 to hook up straight to the save file. and the game (suikoden 1), says theres no save data. help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably a region issue. Check the disc for the SL*S code and check if the save has the same code.
