We are not your employees nor slaves and to tell you the truth, we wouldn't want to be your employees either under any circumstances, no matter the amount and/or kind of payment involved. Not to mention that actual slaves are treated better than this.

Last thing I want when I deal with my hobby is a random moron over the internet nullifying the fan I'm getting out of it.

PS: drk's signature quite defines what I think about all this.

Why does everyone have to be hating on the devs here? I've been in similar footsteps too. I have some of my own projects that people keep begging me to finish. I don't accept donations, I pretty much do the whole thing on my own, and I do it when I have free time AND the will to do it. I don't do much because I am in school and there's always some other thing that keeps getting in my way, be it homework or some family event.

TL;DR:
Life isn't nice. You work with what you have. What I have isn't great, therefore I can't give out constant flows of great work.

Give them a break already. As much as I'd like to whine and complain to them about finishing the project already (believe me, I do), I won't do it. It just isn't ethical.

Razi and PsyMan, keep doing whatever it is you're doing. Work on nullDC whenever YOU want to. Don't let the trolls get you down.

@trickytree
you have been bashing in the thread for more than a year now, how about you actually learn to code and contribute? It takes just a few months to learn how when you're willing to do it.

P.S. sorry guys for feeding the troll, but i had to

Unhappy

Looks like Greek austerity is affecting us all. It was bad enough when Goldman Sachs took our homes now their taking our emulators.

..............................

I have no idea how to respond to that atrocious mark upon the people of Greece without using every foul word in the book. I think that I've already summed it up enough in just these two sentences.

I don't think he was insulting the nation of Greece at all, more or less expressing outrage over the financial situation most of the world is in right now.

If you don't know what's going in Greece this is what drkIIRaziel meant by the wonderful months lately. I assume the educations cuts are the cause of his university collapsing.

I suppose I was a bit out of the loop in terms of global news. I usually stick to local news and news in the science and technology fields, as it appeals to me more. I do apologize for my statement earlier.

Thanks Raz for the detailed update, hope things pick up for you over there.

PsyMan, this isn't just your hobby. I've put hundreds of hours into testing nullDC, raised dozens of issues and helped out plenty on the issue tracker. The last thing I want when dealing with my hobby is some lazy dev breaking stuff with badly tested changes, telling everyone how he can't be arsed to fix it, then giving ****ty responses like 'whatever' when asked about it.

It nullifies the fun I'm getting out of it.

you go, girlfriend.

Is the Wiki broken, or the page just down temporarily?

I checked, I'm getting the same problem. I have a feeling that it is broken, since most of the nullDC development appears to be halted for now.

The wiki's still down. That's a shame, occasionally I feel the urge to compile nullDC but can't quite remember what the dependancies were. Any chance it can be resurrected?

Also, sorry to both Psyman and Raz for my being an impatient idiot a few months back, I got a bit too involved wanting to see the project progress and said the wrong things, very silly of me so I apologise for any offence caused.

About the issue I got so worked up about (issue 353 - '8-bit vram writes'), do you think that this change could just be reverted, or has the way the code works moved on since then? If it can just be reverted then I'll take a look.

IIRC you only need DirectX SDK except for a couple non essential plugins.

I thought there was a bit more to it than that, if I remember.

Think I'd rather have the wiki first to be sure, if anyone has it let me know please.

EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure there was much more to it than the other sticky on this forum.

Because I didn't break the code in the first place?

But still, you think I should spend months fixing someone else's mistake which they could correct in just a couple of hours?

People come up with some really retarded logic sometimes.

I'd also like to know your rationale for claiming that it would only take a few hours.

I didn't say I wanted it fixed now, did I? My point is that a change was put in which broke compatibility, so the decent thing to do for the users would be to revert the change until a better solution was found. This is very different from begging for further development.

As for a couple of hours - yes, it would take someone with a preconfigured dev environment, knowledge of the code base and documentation of the exact code changes just a couple of hours to revert a change. We know no testing goes on, look at some of the hacks and issue logs we've seen over the years (disc swap being a good example).

The code and the documentation is on googlecode. As for setting up the dev enviroment, is just installing VS Express and some SDKs. It's free, and quite easy. The most time consuming part is just downloading the stuff.

Anyhow, I don't see how this old discussion is of any use and/or related to the thread at all. I suggest you just get your hands dirty at reversing what you do not want (lovely thing about open source) and make a new thread if necessary.

Ok, I built a different version with alternate compatibility, see this thread for details.
