Sound stuttering in all games

I seem to have this issue with the sound in my games where they will have this 3 second stuttering in the sound occasionally. Also, when it happens, games seem to pause themselves for a second as well. I am using Eternal version 1.41 with SPU Async and smooth, with the sound buffer set to 25. Anyone know what the problem might be? If you need my graphics plugin settings, well I use Pete's OGL2 version 2.9 for 3D games, and PEOPS soft plguin version 1.18 for 2D games.

And your sound card? Maybe its something with HDD or CD?

disable any antivirus or firewalls or something else that can be slowing down the system as the stuttering and freezing is usually seems like something dragging the computer down like the hard drive is being busy... try a defrag and see if it made a difference
