Smile VisualBoyAdvance Link version 2.x

Hi everybody !

I finished to update my website and I took the opportunity to add the English part of the documentation for VisualBoyAdvance Link.

Recently, I created a new version of the emulator. I modified the GUI: I used Eclipse and the project "Icedtea" as Java environment.

Here are the links to download the new version and documentation:
- Version 2.0: http://jaime.gemelo.free.fr/fichiers...ink-2.0.tar.gz
- Documentation (EN): http://jaime.gemelo.free.fr/fichiers...ntation-EN.pdf
- Documentation (FR): http://jaime.gemelo.free.fr/fichiers...ntation-FR.pdf

Good test and don't hesitate to send me questions about this new version, the issues that you meet with this version and/or your patches that can improve it !

In a friendly manner,
IMBERT Jacques-Olivier

Hi Zhoaer,

Can you detail precisely the problem please?
What is your Linux distribution?
Do you launch the setup script (setup.sh) ? This script compiles the version of VisualBoyAdvance Link and copy the jar file
Are you trying others games?
What does you show the outputs in command-line mode?

IMBERT Jacques-Olivier

Hi Zhoaer,

This emulator works for Linux only.
You cannot use it under Windows environment.

Can you confirm that uou tested my version under Windows?
if this is not the case, I will look if I have the same issue on my side.

In a friendly manner,
IMBERT Jacques-Olivier

Hi felixmegion,

After you downloaded the archive, extract it and go to the directory "VisualBoyAdvanceLink-2.0" . You will see a file named "setup.sh".

Open an terminal here (xterm for example) and execute this command: ./setup.sh
It will compile and setup automatically my emulator.

If you have others questions and/or issues, don't hesitate to tell me here

In a friendly manner,
IMBERT Jacques-Olivier

Hi felixmegion,

I suggest you to install a Linux environment (for instance Slackware, Vectorlinux, ...) in your computer instead of using a virtualisation system like Vmware.
The condition is that you must have gcc, java and SDL installed in your PC in the aim to setup this emulator.

For me, I tested my emulator on Platypux, a Linux distribution developped by my twin brother IMBERT Pierre-Aimé and me : http://platypux.site.free.fr/.

You can use any terminal software to write commands. xterm is for me the terminal software present in Platypux.

In a friendly manner,
IMBERT Jacques-Olivier

Hi felixmegion,

Sorry for my delay to answer you.

Please tell me what is your Linux distribution ? (Ubuntu, Slackware, ...)

If you don't setup VisualBoyAdvance Link with the script "setup", you cannot play your games with the Java GUI.

I didn't recommend this method if you would like to play in multiplayer mode because of the sound.

But here is the method to do it
1) Start 2 java GUI
2) In the first Java GUI, click on the button "Server Mode", select the numbers of players (here 2) and click on the button "Start !" to select you game
3) In the second Java GUI, clic on the button "Client Mode", write the IP Adress of the PC (where you have started these programs of course) and click on the button "Start !" to select you game
4) Good game !

In a friendly manner,
IMBERT Jacques-Olivier
