http://www.bethblog.com/2012/05/01/dawnguard/

Xbox 360 gets it first, for 30 days then PC and PS3 later

i take it that these dawnguards are the legendary ones who took crossbowbolts in the knee?

While on the DLC talk... seems the latest patch adds files needed for support in case of crossbows and snow elves. Finally they are taking steps to add freaking crossbows in Skyrim XD.

i think its more or less just 1GB, if you count the free DLC (hi res texture pack) then it would be around 3GB+ i think

also

leaked info on DawnGuard?

http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comme...former/c4vksgy
Quote:
Two Paths
The story of Dawnguard involves the return of a vampire lord named Harkon, who seeks to put a stop to his greatest enemy: the sun. Harkon intend to use the untold power in the ancient Elder Scrolls to accomplish his goal, while an order of vampire hunters (the titular Dawnguard) hopes to stop him. The conflict puts players in a position to choose sides; fighting alongside the Dawnguard to defeat Harkon is one option, but you can also join forces with the undead and expand your own vampiric powers. Like the civil war quests in the base game, your choice changes the quests you undertake. "We present players with both sides of the storyline pretty early in the DLC," says lead artist Matt Carofano. "There is a lot of unique content depending on which side you choose."
New Homes
Regardless of who you side with, your choice gives you access to one of two new homes in Skyrim. Teaming up with the vampires opens up Castle Volkihar, an appropriately gloomy and intimidating island stronghold. Fort Dawnguard, a keep surrounded by trees and rocks, will be your base if you oppose Harkon. These fortresses aren't just new places to sleep - they have other bonuses too. "Each fort will provide the player with unique benefits," says Carofano. "The Dawnguard will have new weapons and armor to fight vampires, including crossbows. The vampires can grant the player bonuses to vampiric powers and give blood potions, which heal and count towards feeding."
Transformation
As a payoff for your loyalty to the vampires' cause, you can become a vampire lord - the paragon of the vile species. Like the werewolf power gained during your quests for the Companions, assuming the mantle of a vampire lord is a transformation. While you are a vampire lord, you have access to new powers but still pay a price. Townspeople will attack a vampire lord on sight, though this no longer happens if you are just a "regular" vampire. Players can exit the vampire form at will, unlike the werewolf transformation.
The Perks of Power
In the base game, the advantages of being a vampire are negligible when compared to the drawbacks. Dawnguard evens out that equation, giving vampire lords addiational powers rooted in their ghastly new form. One ability, vampiric grip, suspends an enemy in the air with telekinesis as you drain its health. Other powers include hovering about the ground and turning into a swarm of bats.
To balance out this expansion of vampire capabilities, werewolves are getting their own unique perk tree, complete with abilities with names like "animal vigor" and "savage feeding." one power, called "totem of the moon," lets players summon ally werewolves in a howl.
Just as in the base game, you can either be a werewolf or a vampire, but you can't be both. In either case, you earn new perks by engaging in the appropriate beastly activities. By killing foes with your powers, you can continue to learn new vampire or werewolf skills. This approach means that all players can see what these forms offer, despite the fact that gaining standard perks might be difficult (or impossible) for high level characters.
More Dragons
Vampires are the focus of the Dawnguard DLC, but the most terrifying enemies from the base game are also getting some extra attention. Legendary dragons are new high-level beasts that are even more challenging than the ancient-class dragons that powerful characters currently encounter. Bethesda wouldn't clarify what exactly makes these foes difficult - they may require different tactics, or they may simply have more hit points than other dragons.
In addition to legendary dragons, players will also encounter new breeds of enemies like gargoyles, death hounds, and armored trolls.
Back to Oblivion
Your quests for the Dawnguard or the vampires will take you to several new locations, and one of them is a plane of Oblivion - the plane players traveled to multiple times in the Elder Scrolls IV. Unlike the fiery fields of that of that game, Dawnguard's piece of Oblivion has a ghostly, ethereal visual style. Dubbed Soul Cairn, this haunting realm of trapped souls offers a change of scenery from the stark, Nordic surroundings of Skyrim.
The New Archery
Instead of relying on a bow for your ranged combat, Dawnguard adds crossbows to your arsenal. "The crossbows have a different feel from bows," says Carofano. " They will remain loaded while running through the world and provide a quicker shot. They are, however, slower to reload. Another benefit is that each shot has a chance to stagger your opponent." All of the perks you spent in archery still apply to crossbows, so your skills with a bow easily transfer to the new weapon.
The Ratway Makeover
"The ability to change your character's face was something that came up often in fan feedback," says Carofano. In response to those requests, Dawnguard adds a character hidden down in the Ratway of Riften who can alter your appearance. Race and gender are still locked, but you can tweak your other facial features in case your hero doesn't look as awesome as you initially thought.
Mounted Combat
Are you sick of feeling helpless on foot? Mounted combat is coming with Dawnguard, allowing players to use their weapons while on horseback. Not only is this a more convenient way to deal with enemies on the road, but it will also give you a chance to try out a new set of Dragonbone weapons - another addition in Dawnguard. Unfortunately, your attacks while mounted are limited to weapons; if you want to cast spells, you still need to dismount
Where to Start
A new base and an array of powers may sound tempting, but new players shouldn't try to tackle Dawnguard as soon as they escape activity. The DLC isn't meant for low-level players. "Dawnguard is designed to work with any characters who are past level 10," says Carofano. Go on some adventures first, learn about shouting, and get some perks in your preferred style of combat before undertaking the quest. When you're ready, listen for rumors about the group of vampire hunters who are recruiting, and ask town guards to steer you in the direction of the Dawnguard.
Keep Shouting
New shouts are also part of the Dawnguard package, letting you continue to expand your mastery of the draconic language. Soul tear is one of the new shouts players can learn, which allows you to steal the soul of a defeated for and raise that foe as an undead minion. While Bethesda wouldn't specify how the new shouts are integrated into the campaign, they are likely tied to Dawnguard's unique locations rather than new word walls popping up across Skyrim.
Giving Xbox an Edge
Dawnguard is coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, but only Xbox owners get to play it this summer. The DLC is a timed exclusive, meaning the PC and PS3 versions will be released after an undisclosed amount of time has passed. Bethesda took a similar approach with Fallout 3; in that the DLC packs didn't arrive on PS3 until several months after their original release on Xbox 360 and PC. This approach for Skyrim's DLC was announced well before the game released last fall, but considering all of the PS3-specific problems in the base game, playing Skyrim on Sony's console is a losing proposition. At least PC players have the creation kit and mods to keep them busy.

ah that's not too bad
My just about ancient by now GTX260 won't be capable of pushing the high res texture pack anyways so that's just a GB or so for me then. That's awesome.

^Imho the HD2k texture pack (fan made) plus the armor improvements/clothing mods is a better pick, with those i don't have any problems running the game but with there texture pack ouch the hit on FPS... its not even like the texture size are any different even...

Also how come nobody posted this XD:

When that's out i'll probably actually make a more positive type of character.

PS: well wish me luck i keep screwing up configuring skyrim for my fighter build >.< ...

Well started a new character and i must say i'm quite pleased with this build really got in the game again (i got the inspiration from Queen's Blade :P):

So my new char is named Hinamoto Tomoe known only by a selected few as the Akavir Miko (Miko means priestess in japanese) her story being:

READ THIS FIRST: be careful the following character story may contain spoilers for the Skyrim main quest (for the tl;dr version skip the spoiler):

Spoiler:
Why did Paarthurnax turned his back on his brother Alduin and decided to lend a helping hand to the mortals? Why fight his dragon nature ? Was it as he said, because of Alduin's false claim of godhood ? Or where the nordic legends that the goddess Kynareth intervened making him siding with the nords true ? Could the truth actually be in between ? Why is Paarthurnax a supposedly immortal being showing such signs of weariness ? What is the actual truth behind the term of Dovahkiin (Dragonborn) ? Why where the Akavir so obsessed with the dragonborn ?

Paarthurnax was indeed one of the dragons committing some of the worst atrocities against human kind, destroying settlements in the blink of the eye, in such a rampage he ended up having his attention being taken away by a maiden which did not run, did not loathe, saying just one thing, when faced with dead before the mighty dragon: "i forgive you, tormented soul". That caught the attention of the great dragon, giving in to curiosity and his sadistic nature he only spared the life of the maiden, ordering his followers to trow her in a cage and be kept close to him for fun, he wanted to break the maiden, but as they started to communicate more he found himself pitied more by the maiden for he did not know the joys of life only death cruelty and lust for power, even so she never hated, the maiden did not know feelings of hate, only having what you could refer to as childish hopes of understanding, in her eyes dragon, man, elf it did not matter they where all living beings worthy of respect and breathing, at first this irritated him, but as time passed on and there dialogues continued he ended up fascinated with the maiden, she slowly gaining space into his being, thus the great general one of the most ferocious dragons ended up being tamed by a simple maiden stepping down from his throne of skulls. Not long after a child was born a true dragonborn, a girl, this gave a new sensation to the mighty dragon, one which he was unfamiliar with... Though peace in there life was not to be eternal, because Alduin ended up suspicious, why did one of his most trusted generals ended up leaving his side ? Thus he asked that Paarthurnax should be spied, upon hearing what has transpired he was filled with rage. While Paarthurnax was away Alduin stormed his lair facing the defenseless maiden. By the time Paarthurnax came back he was greeted by Alduin with the maiden's body gravely wounded in a pool of blood, Alduin didn't even had a chance to thu'um, because the scene threw Paarthurnax in a fit of rage, a fit directed towards Alduin, a great battle ensued a battle which left great scars on both dragons, especially Paarthurnax, but even so Alduin was forced to retreat, after the battle Paarthurnax took one more look at the dying body of the maiden, it was then that she spoke her last words: "Promise me you shall not hate your kind for this, as he may be cruel he is still your brother, don't loose what you gained with me for hatred, don't render my life with you meaningless, despair not, cause our daughter lives, but promise me one more thing mighty dragon promise me that our daughter shall have a chance to live and be sparred of a life of fear under Alduin's rage." With that she gave her last breath, Paarthurnax then giving out one last thu'um, one that made the earth shake. Thus begins Paarthurnax's uprising and revolt against his brother thus from his lands he abolishes his old ways and creates the strong Akavir faction, a force actually created for the protection of his daughter which later became also renown dragon slayers, and also thus at Kynareth's request he also teaches the thu'um to the nords. After Alduin's bane, Paarthurnax said this to the Akavir: "Raise her, and raise her offspings well, the day when Alduin shall return will come and she alone might be the one capable of resisting his thu'um and deliver your salvation" after that he left them to fight his inner self, his lust for power. Thus the Akavir taking the warning seriously focused there attention on the now young maiden, focusing on her teaching and giving her mastery in various fields. Thus is how the first Akavir Miko came to be. In the bloodline of the maiden only one child was born per generation and strangely it was always female, not to mention that they seem to inherit some of the skills and techniques of the predecessors. In time with the danger of the dragons being gone due to the strifes of the races and struggles of power through Tamriel the importance of the Miko made her become a guarded secret even among the Akavir, to keep some of their roles and appearances in place they still declared themselves dragonslayers and warriors meant to serve the dragonborn, but they omitted any stories regarding the Miko (Note: this is how they ended up associating with Talos). Even among themselves as time passed on, only the most trusted and high ranking members knew of her location and where allowed to teach her the ways of fighting and the world, to preserve the bloodline when the time was considered right she would mate with one of the most distinguished members of the guild to secure the next generation. This did not change even after becoming the blades, the primary focus remained the same for the true leaders of the Blades, as for the task of being the elite guard of the Emperor turning out to be actually a front or secondary objective. This as its known carried on for thousands of years (Note: i also mean the longevity of the Akavir/Blades), till the Great War with the Thalmor, where the main Order of the Blades was destroyed and the the selected few gave there all to secure the safety of the Miko. In the end due to being chased by the Thalmor and also based on a vision by Tomoe, the current Akavir Miko, they decided it would be best to take refuge in one of there hideouts in Skyrim, but unfortunately just as they where trying to cross the border they ended up in the ambush layed down by the Empire against the Stormcloaks, being attacked by both Imperials and Thalmor all but the Miko where killed (Note: that's why the Thalmor also took an interest of the execution of Ulfric), she being taken as a prisoner and thus the story in the land of Skyrim beginning, with Alduin sensing Tomoe after breaking out of his imprisonment in time and coming to Helgen...

TL;DR version: She's the Akavir Miko (one of there most guarded secrets that even few of the blades knew) the true Dragonborn :P.

Here are some screens of the character:

Spoiler:

And found the perfect hideout mod for me:

Spoiler:

PS: gotta love the Oriental Race mod, does wonders to the NPC's:

Spoiler:

And PS2: gotta love the uncle sheo mode :

Damn that was fast of them this time around. Nehrim was 100 times the game Oblivion was so this should be interesting. Not like I'll ever be able to find out though since there's no way it would fit into my cap.

^Yeah i've seen that one to, it looks pretty cool, but anyway i quited Skyrim. And wont be playing again any time soon, best case scenario is sometime after Dawnguard is launched, when i can get to replace those iritating animations... i can't stand them anymore especially now that the novelty of the game wear off.

I only noticed patch 1.6 after SKSE refused to load and had to download the new one.

Currently in the "collect blood of A B C D & E" of the main quest. Damn annoying. Almost at the end of the Dark Brotherhood quest as well. Level 40, and still craploads of shout not yet unlocked.
