Just finished the second special episode of Alan Wake. Overall, Alan Wake is 9/10 in my book and I loved every minute of it. Really big thumbs up for Remedy for the PC version, although I finished it on 360 too, I somehow enjoyed it more on PC. Waiting for the American Nightmare now, which I already pre-purchased.

Section 8 - Prejudice : 8.5/10 The campaign is MUCH better than in the first game but still pretty poor compared to proper single player shooters and basically just serves as a tutorial. That said it mostly gets such a high rating because I'd already given the first one such a high rating and this one is much much better in all aspects. About 3 of those points are given purely because it's a multiplayer shooter than still offers offline bots to the single player which is a feature I sorely miss from just about every other arena shooter out there these days. So in all likely hood for most people it's likely at best a 6/10 for me however it's basically a godsend.

Rayman Origins 8.5/10 I've never played a game in this series until now and I enjoyed it a lot. It is on the short side but the secret area makes up for that since its extremely difficult. The Visuals are very nice and so is the story, the only problem I have is it has no real story or plot at all. |

No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise - 4/10 Whoever made this version should be ashamed of themselves. Screen tearing. Runs at 30fps (it's not even steady, noticeable slowdowns). Wii graphics dammit. You have to be lucky to beat a certain boss, because the game doesn't register well the left sticks movement when the QTE screen appears. No AA. Jak 3 - 10/10 AMAZING. |

Lightfish, 7 out of 10, and I'm being generous. It has no story mode, it has crashed on me a few times, some of the levels are cheap death traps. But it can be fun if you like Qix like games. I got it in the Build a Bundle pack as I'm a Qix junkie. I finished the levels in under 2 hours. If you're a Qix junkie and don't mind having bugs in the game, its worth buying for $2.50 or under, particularly the Build a Bundle sale

Alan Wake's American Nightmare : 8.5/10 First off : a list of the things that could piss off anyone planning to play this. - It's not very long, tho the Arcade mode has the potential to keep you occupied for a while *IF* you like the combat. - If you didn't like the combat in the first game, you may not like this one. It improves on the combat in a few ways and makes it a little more engaging but it doesn't replace it with something new. I liked it, enough to play the arcade/survival mode, but then again I didn't hate the combat in the first game. - You replay the same areas a few times. You don't spend that much time in them and the story changes a little each times, but it's very much a Majora's Mask/Groundhog Day type of situation. What I liked over the first game : - It's more open, which lets you experience a different type of atmosphere. The first game was linear and made use of it to give a very precise adventure, which was great. This one sells you the atmosphere of the game in a different way, through slightly more open exploration and with the action being more spread out. The thrill of exploring disappears a little once you've already done the areas once, but it's still nice to see if something changes later on (mostly, the enemies). - The first game tried very hard to pay homage, and take inspiration from, a variety of already existing works. Twin Peaks (so damn much), various authors (Stephen King here, Stephen King there, Stephen King EVERYWHERE) It was nice but I felt like the developers ended up being limited by this, as if they got lost in all of the stereotypes and clichés they were paying homage to, and didn't leave enough space for their OWN imagination. American Nightmare also pays homage to (and draws inspiration from) existing concepts, but not as much. This makes for a very existing world while also giving a lot of space for Remedy to draw their own picture. - I liked the combat of the first game. I felt like it lacked depth (very much so) but was very cinematic which, in the end, is what I think they wanted. The game was very much a cinematic experience and I felt the combat was an extension of this. It got boring after a while to play, but rarely to watch (tho that's just me, I know a lot of people HATED the combat). American Nightmare improves on the combat a little bit. It gives you a greater variety of weapons, it adds new types of enemies and brings a few new concepts to the table. It doesn't revolutionize their combat system, but it brings it up to a new level. It may still become repetitive after a while, but it's now more fun and engaging. I absolutely *hate* the guys who lob grenades at you. - You can actually start on Nightmare. It's not very hard but at least you get access to every manuscript pages. - I really like Mr. Scratch. - The arcade offers a survival mode with new areas not found in the story mode. This mode is just for fun (survive for 10 minutes while trying to get as much point as possible) it doesn't really unlock anything. Minor annoyance : - I liked playing the first game with no HUD. This time around I ended up using it since the game would often give me an objective with no clear direction where to go, and I was expected to look at my minimap. On the bright side : it makes it much easier to find manuscript pages as they can "blink" on your minimap. - I had slightly higher expectations for the ending. Overall I was really pleased with this. The game still has low quality ground textures, yet looks absolutely *gorgeous* because of the lighting, especially at night. How come there arent more developers copying them in this regard? Also, the narrator made me laugh.

I reek so badly at the first one I can't imagine trying the sequel. I like the first one, but I'm awful at it. I can't get more than 20-30 stars on it.

Dirt Showdown - 8/10 Just finished completing all the offline modes 100%. Great game and more fun then Dirt 2 and 3 were (I haven't played Dirt 1) however I had to take points off for the fact that some like me who is not "great" at racing games was able to finish it inside 48 hours of casual play.

How hard was Dirt Showdown compared to Dirt 2 or 3? I don't think I'll buy Dirt 3 as I suck at Dirt 2. I beat Dirt in ~21 hours, I'm ~ 30 hours into Dirt 2 and have "most" of the game finished. I "Beat" the X Games, but am not good at the "group" *5 race* areas.

I would say equal or easier then to Dirt 2 and FAR easier then 3. However there are some tough spots.

Dude, it's a racer, you'll be able to master it unless the AI is cheap as hell.
