I'm afraid I don't think there is anything for Linux.

I must agree with schumi here, i think there isn't any fixes for linux. Guess you might try a new emulator. For our Windows users, there is a new VBA to download called VBA-M 1.8.0 here VBA-M. It has Vista & Win 7 support. This guy took over the VBA project after Mr Forgotten. There is still some issues with it like V-Rally 3 and Metroid Fusion has some flashing problems with the graphics. But so far everything is fine.

go to options, emulator, directories then i just put my folder of all my roms for the directory for the ROM section. then everything else i put the folder with my vba.exe and my vba.ini. and it works fine.
hope that helps even a little!!
That worked for me

Download the vba-over file, extract it to the folder that the vba is in, and then move the Pokemon Fire Red Version (U).gba into the folder that the vba is in. Note that I'm not mistaking myself, both should be in the same folder, the folder with the vba. Just downloading the vba-over clearly doesn't work. Can't believe I read through 5 pages of this just to figure it out on my own.

But I got another question. In Fire Red is it normal to see a wild pokemon from the "new" pokemon like Zigzagoon outside Pallet???
I downloaded his file, and it's still not working. :P

Ive downloaded the vba-over thing, but when I reloaded Fire Red for the third time, instead of the "the 1m" blabla wasnt there and instead was a box that had the top of those speech boxes thing in it like, five times. I did set it to 128 (or whatever) and it only seems to happen on that. I have no idea what to do...

Décompressez ce dans le même dossier que vba.exe
Attached Files
File Type: zip vba-over.zip (2.1 KB, 7 views)
