if you have windows, search for "system information". then describe your computer components. e.g. processor, graphics card.

EDIT: if you have all of your configurations at their default settings, than it is most likely your processor. i had a laptop with a similiar processor and it did lag quite a lot. the only thing i could suggest is that you make sure there are no background processes running on your computer, such as internet browsers, or to make sure everything is at its lowest quality settings possible, such as the ps1 native resolution. (which i assume is the default resolution for the emulator) if it isn't though, go into: File >> Configuration >> Graphics (tab) >> Click on both NTSC and PAL (drop down menu) >> select 640x480 50hz for both that should help with fullscreen. you could try the frame-skipping options as well. as for sound... unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it according to the options that are there. perhaps you could try unticking the v-sync? of course you could try another emulator. sound and/or voices always seems to be an issue with games such as the final fantasy's from the ps1 generation. I say you've got nothing to lose at least trying a new emulator.
