no$sns released (Martin is back)

This is a snes emulator from Martin Korth (author of no$gba and other no$ emulators)

Versions

no$sns v1.0 - initial release
no$sns v1.1 - same as v1.0, plus GSU and SA-1 coprocessor emulation

Features

The program is 100% assembler code. Accuracy should be quite high (if not: bug are reports welcome).
Controllers: 1-2 Joypads, Mouse, Lightguns (via mouse), NTT Data Pad, X-Band Keyboard
Coprocessors: SA-1 (in v1.1), GSU (in v1.1), DSP, ST010/11, CX4, OBC1, S-DD1, SPC7110, S-RTC, RTC-4513
Add-ons: Satellaview, Turbofile (TFII and STF)
Debugger: Assembler, Disassembler, Xboo-Upload Function (for testing code on real SNES).
Requirements: Win95 and up, around 8MB RAM, around 200MHz
(on 1GHz computers, most games can run 5-10 times faster as on real hardware).

Known Problems

Interlace Mode (vertical hires) isn't yet supported (used only by 3 games or so)
Offset-Per-Tile Mode isn't yet supported (used by Starfox... and probably by some further games...?)
ST018 and SFC-Box aren't supported (because their BIOSes aren't yet dumped)
(although dumping them should be exceptionally simple, without needing to decap the chips)
GUIs of Copiers and Cheat Devices should be working (but without actually emulating FDDs or Patches)

What happened, did Hell freeze over. While it's nice to see him active in the emulation scene once more, I have to disagree with "you-have-to-pay-to-get-the-latest-version" philosophy. Still, never thought he'd come out of hiding. Apparently, he got pissed off when someone cracked no$gba 2.6a...and that's when he left. The only major issue I can see is the fact that Assembler is used, meaning ports to other OSes are impossible, and the emulator being closed source can't help either. Still more accurate than Zsnes.

Yup, hell is frozen alright. At least there's v1.1 so one can now freely test v1.0.

Misleading acts, such as giving the impression that he's back in the emulation scene only to abandon it once someone cracks no$sns or his whole "give-a-donation-in-order-to-play-the-latest-version" BS? Granted, I commend him for having the guts to come back after all these years, but who knows how long he'll do it for. I took a look at his Snes documentation and I was quite impressed; he'd be a great help to the Snes emulation scene. Make the emulator open source and we'd be all one happy family.

Martin is back? Nice.

He is an arse, but he DID created the best (IMHO) DS emulator. Heck, I still use No$GBA to this day (since Desmume is slow on my machine).

Hell, if you look at it, his creations are actually commercial emulators, like Connectix VGS, and I don't remember people complaining that they had to pay for VGS.

I think the main problem with Martin is that he wasn't man enough to say WHY he was giving up on no$gba. If he didn't like the fact that people 'cracked' 2.6a, he should at least let people know, not just disapear like an idiot.

DeSmuME is slower than no$gba yes, but unless someone can tell me how to play FFIV DS without garbled/overlapping text or warped battle backgrounds, I'll stick with the former. Just sayin'. Martin should at least explain why he abandoned it; that emulator had a lot of potential, unlike iDeaS.

Meh. Too confusing to combine different configurations and know what does what, but I digress.

My problem wasn't with the pay part as i said its his work he has the right to do with it as he wish, my problem is with the deceit part, since it is pay ware but he tries to brush it of and sugar coat it as donations, not to mention he dissapeared like that without saying a thing to what could be referred to as paying costumers (the "donors"), that's quite rude (to say it nice) and shows no back bone, that's what i disliked :P.

Its not that confusing, its just some trial and error! You have 6 different EX options, and one of them fix FF4. How can THAT be confusing?!?

But its obvious that you WANT to use Desmume. Judging by some posts I've seen, you consider No$GBA dead, and keep spamming that people should use Desmume, even at No$gba's forum! (Example: http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142095)

So what No$GBA seems dead? Its still a good emulator! I was able to beat more than 100 games in it at full speed. And if you stop using an emulator just because it SEEMS dead, I'm sure you'll soon stop using EPSXE, pSX, ZSNES, and many others.

Playing a game slower than the maximum speed is a no-no for me, and I will not buy another PC soon. I rather fiddle with a few options on No$GBA than play a DS game at less than the default speed.

Desmume is a great and promissing emulator too, but I can't accept the fact that I have a 'Intel I3 at 3,07 GHz' and can't use this emulator at full speed! ¬¬

Sheesh. Let it go already. I never said no$gba was a BAD emulator, I just implied that it wasn't the be-all end-all of DS emulators. It's like Zsnes, it's very popular, has fairly high compatibility, but there are emulators that emulate certain parts of the console's hardware in question (like the Sony SPC700) more faithfully, in this case Snes9x 1.53+.

The guy doesn't owe you anything.
Whether he disappears, appears or do some crazy antics; you're not in a position to whine and demand when you're neither contributing or paying for an actual service.

Nonetheless, its nice to see him back.

Actually, it's technically not a "sale", and there is nothing to crack. You literally just get the latest version of his emulator with a donation.

I think he was just pissed because someone distributed the latest version freely even though there might have been issues that he didn't want non-donators to catch.

Judging how it doesn't seem to be related to randomizer's post i presume your referring to me, i never said he owed me anything, that's just how i view the mater and i personally i think i'm entitled to my own opinion...
