You can't. No$Zoomer does have a function that it calls save states but what it actually just is is a bunch of preserved battery saves.

No$GBA as a whole not just No$Zoomer.
You're going to have to use DeSmuME if you want save states.

I'm new to this whole emulator thingy and actually forums, generally a bit of an internet nub, so i'm a post here since i'm not entirely sure how to start a new thread or find one to fix my problem.

Basically i was playing pokemon diamond (behind the times!) , mid battle, with zoomer minimised and changing music etc. When i come back to zoomer it's frozen (think it's cos i was tabbed off it too long) and what i usually do when that happens doesnt work (i.e minimise and restore a few times to start it moving again. So that failed miserably and i just started pressing random buttons up on the top, clicked on save state (i've read that doesn't work, not even sure what it does in all honesty) and it started back up, but it wasn't in the zoomer window, it was in the normal no$gba window. though that was a tad odd so i just saved the game and closed down. click on the zoomer, open up Pokemon diamond.nds and it just stays in the "now loading" phase, black screen and generally doing nothing. No$gba is running in the background but that's frozen too, "not responding".
Is there anyway i can get my saved game back and keep playing on zoomer, or do i have to restart over? If so, how would i clear this problem and actually get the thing to start up again and go onto the game sorry for the essay, i just decided to tell you what i did hoping it might help!

No$Zoomer use the same minimize = close the DS system that no$gba uses and as such one should never minimize it since games tend to glitch out when you do and though it may look like you got them to work again after a few minimize and maximise attempts it's highly likely that there's still some sort of glitch in the code.

I'd say your save is most likely corrupt BUT that should have no impact on no$gba itself to the point where it stops responding, rather it should just throw up an error message when you try to continue. So I don't really have an idea what happened now or how to fix it.
Perhaps try running no$gba by itself once and if that works then try with No$Zoomer again. If that doesn't work delete no$gba.ini and set the emulator up again and try again. If it still doesn't work you'll likely have to wipe everything and start from scratch in a completely new folder. If it works in no$gba but not No$Zoomer then just replace the No$Zoomer files.

What the No$Zoomer function you used does is create a personal backup of the current battery save located in no$gba's battery folder since occasionally this can corrupt (as it may have done now). Why it unstuck the game and then completely glitched out No$Zoomer and no$gba like that is completely beyond me.

Tried no$gba alone, clicked on the pokemon nds, just got 2 black screens and the whole not responding thing. I don't think i have a no$gba.ini file, just searched for that and nothing came up. Tried loading zoomer again, went into saveslot and tried loading what i think i named the savestate or something, coms up with "no$gba cartloader warning" and 3 things that went wrong i assume.
Bad header checksum (real gameboy would shutdown.
Bad ROM entrypoint at header (000h)
Bad fixed value at 96h at header (0B2h)
I have no idea what that means, there's a bit of random stuff which i guess always comes with that message, stuff about i may be trying to use a file that's not a gameboy game, or i got a corrupted copy of the game. Then some jargon i don't understand about if you are a developer do this...

I think it's probably less hassle to just do as you suggest and clear the whole thing and start from scratch! Thanks for trying though

There must be a no$gba.ini, it could just be that you have extensions turned off on your windows install. It has a gear like icon. Without it you never saved your options which would mean you start from scratch every time setting up your controls and all that stuff.

But yeah it's obvious the programs have completely glitched out. All may not be lost yet though since they're glitching before a save can even be loaded so the save may be fine. Back it up before clearing everything and try and place it within the new battery folder in your new location. No$Zoomer creates a folder called SAVESLOT also backup up anything in there, they're just normal battery saves but maintained by No$Zoomer rather than no$gba so they would be read propperly if you put them in the battery folder providing they're not corrupt.

Whatever you do though NEVER minimize no$gba or No$Zoomer again unless specifically requested to do so by the game (something Pokemon never does but some other DS games did like Zelda and a few more).
