Lufia: The Lands Cursed By The Gods Video Game, Japanese Debut Trailer | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

Looks more like Zelda than Lufia, IMO.

If that's the case, I wonder what's the point of using the name - it's not as if they're going to be milking anything. Same world/setting maybe?

Considering it's the same old Lufia team doing the game, perhaps the director felt that Lufia universe would benefit from a random encounter free gameplay?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Unless the player and critic reviews are awfully negative, I'll probably add it to my game collection.

The point in case is that the story and characters remain pretty much the same. The difference in those is the detail(characters with actual development, this time).

Whether gameplay is the same or not is irrelevant to the name(it's like saying Mario stopped being Mario with the jump to 3D, or RPGs when they take the route of action gameplay).

I played both Lufias on snes but I barely remember it. Though I remember in Lufia 2 there was a sword called "Egg Sword". Never forgot that for some reason.

I don't know what Sega did with Shining Force. The first two games were awesome, though.

"What's the case if it's not milking?". The only reason most of you are posting in this topic is because it has the name "Lufia" in it. Am I not right?

The first two were awesome (and probably the 3rd). Everything after that was not.

Well, yeah, because the name is in it. If it IS a remake or a retelling of the story, then it's cool. But to just put Lufia in it randomly would appear like milking. The thing is, even if that is the case, the Lufia name doesn't really have much power behind it.

Lufia, as a name, only mattered to the first game.

And this is a reimagining of the game, much in the same way that Ys: The Oath in Felghana is a reimagining of Ys III: Wanderers of Ys. The only things that are similar to the original are names and the bare bones of the story.

Look at it this way: What with digital downloads being popular, it's only a matter of time before we can play in any console every game released for major consoles. You'll have two versions of Lufia II to enjoy/play, instead of only one. Just because a new version is released that does not mean that you won't be able to play the original(I still have my SNES sitting on my shelf, along with a nice set of games like A Link to the Past and both Lufia games).

Then this is all fine. All I was saying is that it wouldn't have been worth anything to use the Lufia name simply for the sake of milking since the series is gone from most people's minds. I didn't say whether or not they were milking.
