There are patches and ntsc/pal selectors for games that you can try out... dont know if it's legal or not.

I don't think there is a way, unless there are patches that will do this, otherwise I think it's all hard coded and difficult to pull off.

There was a ntsc/pal convertor somewhere but i can't seem to find it. Bad thing is you'll need to select what part of the image you want to lose if you are converting to ntsc and the game will be slower if you convert it to pal.

there's a pretty good patcher out there; only works on backups, of course.

hehe, well I already have one and I'm waiting for a new one to be released. And My bro might get himself a PS2 so I might sneak in his room and play a game when he's not home, or get some fun multiplayer games.

@Oalboukharey: Read Samor's post closely, take a look at the smiley I used, and you might figure out what I meant. Hint: It's in the 'S' word

ps. I was just joking around a bit, and on a serious note, mid 90's tv's might just be the ones that are 50hertz only. I've got a tv from '97 and it accepts every 60hz signal I throw at it

You shouldn't pick consoles that are destined to fail

If it gives me the gaming satisfaction I am looking for I don't care whatever console I buy, even if it's one people have been claiming it being dead for years

Well, i have an original japanese game that runs on 60Hz. Isnt there a way to make it play at 50Hz? like a boot disc that will boot the game to 50Hz or something like that?

no (and i already answered it in your other thread).

basically, since your TV blows, you are SOL. if the game itself doesn't support a 50/60 hz switch (my friend had a game that did that on DC dunno if that was a legal one or not..) and your TV doesnt support 60hz....there is really nothing you can do except:

1. don't play this game.
2. get a new TV.

basically, it would give me a flickering image.

By using a AV cable instead of a RF cale, would that help at all?

that's weird... AFAIK original japanese games would normally boot in PAL mode anyways (and that's when using a bootdisc in a PAL DreamCast)

Ok! for now, forget about the Hz of the games and the DC! i have a big problem here!

i got the Utopia Boot Disk v1.2, i used this disc to help boot my japanese game. once i putted the boot disk and swapped it with the original game and as it seems to have booted up, all i get is a black screen! the disc is abit scratched up, but due fro the seller, he says it works perfectly fine.

Can anyone here help me?

yes, use the gameshark cd-x demo bootcd instead; it might work better. Cid pointed me to this, as the Utopia disc is actually more catered towards booting warez, and the cd-x is meant as a cheating device for original games. It's a demo of the commercially released Gameshark cd for Dreamcast.
It's a little tricky to find though....
