im not a hacker

just wanted to say that im not the same person as the person mentioned here:

Quote:
"We have people take over someone's box and play the game from there," said " D.D.," a member of the Seattle-based security group Ghetto Hackers, which kicked off a smaller version of the game, Root Fu, at the Defcon hacking convention here on Friday. "In terms of our machines, we are pretty confident that we can contain it." The Ghetto Hackers have run the smaller capture-the-flag-type game, where eight teams hack each other on a closed network, for three years at the convention. "

while im sure hes a nice person, i just didnt want ppl who read driverheaven to be afraid.

rofl omg me not hax0r!!11!!!
But seriously who would care about who is a hacker and who isn't
Hacking used to be super sophisticated art but now its down to almost nothing but script kiddies who can barely compile exploit code.
And these days Norton and Macfee take are making hacking more trouble than its worth to the average hacker. So in short, I don't think anyone in here is too paranoid about hackers/ would have 2 firewalls up if they were...

I run two firewalls. 1 hardware, 1 software

People who automatically assume hackers are dangerous to them deserve no compassion tbh.

This thread is a decoy. D.D. is actually the hacker, but he doesn't want to spread the word around here

Well I wouldn't be too sure about that.

I'm seeing a lot of broadband modems starting to ship with built in hardware firewalls. (eg// the one currently sitting in a box above my wardrobe, whilst I wait for activation next month). Also SP2 comes with a "firewall". Given that Aunt Jenny usually doesn't know or care about these as long as they work in the background, I'd say that in a year or two that two firewalls could become the norm .

LOL. thanks for the friendly replies guys. i know next to diddly squat about hacking so im a really safe guy .

I know a number of routers actually have built in firewall, and like Betamax said, sp2 comes with a "firewall" (but then again, hasnt winxp always had a "firewall" feature?). However, i think this just gives more incentive for hackers lol...sorta like a challenge.
