Turok Menu
I got a chance to work on turok for about 2-3 nights, and I was able to get the menu booting up. There is a "Push Start" screen that if you push start quickly enough, the menu boots up for a split second. Then, a crash occurs because there are about 6-7 DirectSound functions that need to be intercepted. I'm currently in the process of moving to my new apartment, so I probably won't be able to work on this until at least monday or tuesday. caustik |

Yes, Caustik has a modded Xbox in which he dumped his own game from. After that he just transfered it to his PC.

Right well, lets not take up the whole thread with that. ![]() Caustik, I'm curious as well; What IS the usual framerate?

framerate hasnt come into play yet. movie plays fullspeed on all my pcs (including the 550mhz iirc). until actual game 3d pops up, we'll have to wait and see ![]() caustik |

Ah, so a lot of crashes are due to direct sound. That makes sense, since almost all of the the coding(it seems) was on display(generally put). Not that there's anything wrong with that. But all those damn crashes do get irritating ![]() Edit:Caustik, I reread your first thread and realized why you said framerate hasn't come into play. You took a picture of the split second that you see the menu after you hit start. Then the directsound calls cause it to crash. Got it ![]() By the way, how did you deal with the sound in the wmv? I guess there IS no sound but, how did you avoid a crash?

Sound does work in the wmv movies. It's just that not all of directsound functions are intercepted and emulated yet. The latest CVS has a lot more in it though and I was able to navigate through the menus and even "start" a game. (Seen the intro movie then a loading screen before I hit a new crash, but it's definitely going further than it did before.) Sound effects in the menu have a lot of static in them but I'm not sure if it's because of partially emulated calls or because my dump is wrong. Movies timing has got better but it is still a little too fast, causing skips in the audio. Things are progressing along very nicely...
