Got Xeon running ? Read this !
I'd like to type up a nice tutorial with screenshots on how to get Halo to start on Xeon. If you belong to these people who got it to run, please write anything useful into this thread and attach any shot which might clearify things (options, special software etc.) as well. Thanks for your help already in advance !

I couldn't get it to run, but my lucky friend did. I can't attach screenshots here, i have to wait till i get home ( i'm at work ). He did this: 1. Got the debug version of DirectX 9.0b, reinstalled DX 9.0b redist. 2. Copied the Halo cache files from his modded xbox to "C:\emulators\xbx\Xeon\" 3. Ran at 8sXaa, 800x600, fullscreen, hardware. 4. He ran Halo's default.xbe, and it ran And REALLY WELL, but what do ou expect from a P4 1.9ghz / Geforce FX 5900U? Just some rough instructions on what he did. He got around 50fps in the menus, and 20fps in game ( then it crashed Windows because the FX starting going crazy with the clocking and voltages ) His full specs are, FR: P4 1.9ghz with some weird cooling Geforce FX 5900Ultra 768mb of RDRAM or DDR RAM ( i think it's DDR ) Windows XP Home 20+20+30gb drives Hacked firmware DVD-Drive 4x4x2 CD-RW ( i feel for you buddy! ) |

Re: Got Xeon running ? Read this !
options-->configure graphics--> use software render. That was all i had to do once i got the dx9 debug version. No need for the cache files.

Unpacked Xeon & Update into a folder to a folder on my harddrive. Used xISO to transfer the files from my ISO to a folder on my harddrive. Downloaded and installed Microsoft DirectX Debug. Started Halo in Software Mode (REALLY SLOW) Forced myself to reach the game (REALLY SLOW) Turned off and ran Halo again, now in D3D mode... 55fps! The Walk animation looks REALLY funny... (the guys lift their legs right up in the air! ![]() I also ran the game in 1940x1420... 20-30fps(images downscaled to 1200 pixels) Athlon 2400+ ASUS V9950 fx5900u / 256mb |

Re: Got Xeon running ? Read this !
Just read my post further up. I dont know if it is possible to directly transfer files from a XBox DVD to PC, but it is possible to make an ISO of a PC DVD isnt it? The thing is, that the game must be run in software mode, with Direct X Debug libraries installed, first. Then you can make the game run in D3D. |

Re: Got Xeon running ? Read this !
It's quite possible to get Halo runnig without the help from a modded X-box. For example, I just d/l'ed an ISO from the internet and unpacked it into the Xeon folder using XboxIsoTool.

Thanks for the warning. Though for people, who don't own a modded x-box, it is the only way to try Xeon right now. |

Re: Got Xeon running ? Read this !
I got it running by following instructions I found on this board. 1.Run the emulator in software mode(use wireframemode to speed things up). Be sure to load the maps(singleplayer) in software mode so they are chased and so on. 2. Start up without software mode and get a nice fps and do w-ever u want =) I attached some pic here for u to see =)
