Re: help with majoras mask

What kind of problem do you have? Is it graphics glitches? Does the game load up at all? Please be more specific, or it will be hard to find what's causing the problem.

Re: help with majoras mask

You should try another emulator, I reccomend PJ64 or Nemu64 (the second one is faster). Two other good choices are 1964 and mupen64. As video plugin, try Jabo's Direct3D6 1.51 as it is the most compatible right now (and since you don't know which video card you have). As a sound plugin, I think that Azimer's Sound plugin 0.40 beta2 is fast and offers good quality. As input plugin, N-Rage's 1.82a will work with no problems.

As an alternative to Jabo's video plugin, you can also use Glide64, but you will need a glide wrapper called eVoodoo. People usually get better performance with this plugin.

Make sure all emulators and plugins are the latest version.

If you use dxdiag ( START> RUN > DXDIAG ) , it will tell you your video card if you go to the Display tab. Use Jabo's Direct3D6 1.51, Glide64 0.42 w/ evoodoo 3.99 beta if you do not have a Voodoo, or Rice's plugin. All 3 have amazing speed and Glide64 looks VERY good on Voodoo cards.

Re: help with majoras mask

thanks for the help guys.
Now I downloaded nemu64 i got the jabo plugin you said would work but when i load nemu it says error library and i can't use the plugin. I said ok i went to load up majora's mask and it says nemu has caused an error in nemu.exe and closes.
Any idea why it does this?

Re: help with majoras mask

It seems that DirectX is not correctly installed in your system. This may be causing the library error that doesn't allow you to use Jabo's plugin. Try reinstalling the latest DirectX.

Re: help with majoras mask

I've had lots of luck with 1964 using glNintendo64() graphics plugin (now glN64), and Azimer's Sound plugin. But, I've got a GeForceFX 5600 in my system. Only has minor glitches... a few polygons not renderred here and there in clock town.

Re: help with majoras mask

Well.... as an experienced low end systems user, I can tell you what you have to do;

download SupraHLE and use the glide wrapper; the configuration is not very hard; but I recommend you to use the lowest (or most basic) options; and then raise them little by little uintil you find a correct configuration; I just tell you to not to use antialiasing or anisotropic flitering or even fog emulation; because those will make your system very slow......

of course that the above statement can be questioned, like "why use SupraHLE while you got UltraHLE 2064 of PJ64?"; well, the answer is simple, suprahle is a more compatible version of the original ultrahle, besides, using ultrahle 2064 will give no good results, really, like having 3 ocarinas equipped at the same time in the beggining of the game and dying if you roll; and I am assuming that he has a system like the one I used to have (P3 550 Mhz, fully integrated system, which is not good, and an integrated 8 Mb video card.... which makes it a very low end system; of course that if you have a beter system, you can tru with PJ64, which will give you the best results

True, SupraHLE is indeed quite fast and easy to configure. However, it doesn't run Majora's Mask, which is the particular game nintenman is trying to play. If he wants to play Ocarina Of Time, then I agree completely that SupraHLE is a good choice.

Re: help with majoras mask

well i have tried pj64. It emulated graphics wise very very good. only a few poloygons messed up. I used Jabo's Direct3D6 1.51, The only problem I had was the fps would go to 10-30 when there was more than 3 people but normaly it was about 50-70.I don't know if 30 would be normal when there is a lot of action, but does anyone know how I can get the best fps.

You never told us your video card ( remember, my DXDIAG note? ), and you may want to try telling us the settings you are using.

Re: help with majoras mask

Try using 1964 0.8.5 + Jabo's D3D6 1.51 + Azimer's Audio 0.40 Beta 2 + RSP Plugin. It should be faster.

Re: help with majoras mask

All emu now most run Majora mask, but none of them run Majora mask with 100% quality as original. I'm looking forward to seeing 1964 1.0 and new version of glN64 or Rice Deadalus.

You can find out in the Display tab. You most likely have Intel Onboard Graphics, and they SUCK for games, IMO. Get a real, PCI or AGP video card, like a Radeon 7500 or a Geforce 4 MX or something better.

EDIT: My last message was posted with my Dreamcast with the dumb Onboard keyboard

Re: help with majoras mask

It is an onboard video from Intel. People with this video tend to get better results with Glide64 + eVoodoo. You should try that, it probably will give you the best speed.
