I appologize in advance if this is the kind of thing that was meant by "spam" in your code of conduct, but I do believe that it is on-topic and of interest.
I have recently purchased a Doctor v64 at an auction, in perfect physical and operational condition. For those who don't know what this is, it plugs into the bottom of your N64, and allows you to transfer games to your hard drive via parallel port (i.e. make your own ROMs) or tranfer ROMs from your hard drive to its memory via parallel port or its built-in CD-ROM. This allows you to play any ROM with your N64--the only thing you need your PC for is to download and transfer (or burn on CD) the ROMs themselves. There is no emulator software to mess around with, so as long as your console and the ROM itself are good, it *will* work.
Its RAM has been upgraded from 128 to 256 megs, which is more than plenty. PAL and NTSC compatible.
If anyone is interested in trying to fix their old Doctor, I also have a few gutted Doctor v64's with shells, CD-ROMs and a few circuit boards still intact.
These machines are no longer being produced, as the company is out of buisness.
Unfortunately, Ebay won't let me list this, so email me at
tbc_42@yahoo.com and I'll have a little private auction; starting bids are $120 (for the complete machine; make me an offer for the spare parts) plus shipping and insurance. As for payment, if the address is a street address within the USA I will ship before I receive payment (so the buyer can ensure that it arrives in one piece); otherwise, prepayment with money or a money order will be required.
I am not responsible for the use or misuse of this device. It is your responsibility to know and abide by copyright law. This device is perfectly legal to operate for archival, demo, and CD-playing purposes, blah blah blah...
