A few XP network questions

I've disabled simple file sharing in XP but I can't manage to figure out how to setup my drives to be accessed on my LAN. Basically I want anyone to be able to have access but they must type in a login/password in order to do so.

Another thing is that I cannot access my VNC server outside my LAN. Can someone give me pointers on ho to do so? I assume that the built in firewall would have something to do with it although I've tried configuring it already.

Erm Don't you need file sharing enabled to do that? Eg if you want to share your c: drive then you make a shared folder pointing to the c:\ folder. As for password protecting them as long as your user accounts require passwords then so should any shared folder on that system.

Along the same topic here...and to keep this alive - Anyone know why it takes 1-2 minutes to display the print window when there's a linux printer on the list? It works fine, but it takes FOREVER for that stupid print box to show up and/or change anything in there.
