Extracting Metal Gear Solid .DAT files

Hello, i'm trying to translate Metal Gear Solid ENG in my language, i found that the audio files and subtitles files are compressed in the .DAT files of the game (such as DEMO.DAT or RADIO.DAT). The problem is that i can't extract this .DAT files! I found a tool called "KONAMI DAT TOOL" but is not working on Metal Gear Solid for PSX, it works only for MGS2 and maybe MGS3. Anyone can help me?

Quick check with a hex editor revealed that the files are not compressed.
However you will probably have to figure the file structure all by yourself.

Check the notes section on the http://policenauts.net/english/.

it's a little bit hard starting with this notes

i checked the notes section but seems like that here explain how to translate using an hex editor...how can i getting started with trying to extract the entire DAT files?
