Which is better: PSX or PC Version o FF VII/VIII

I have the PC versions of both. Am I missing anything?

The only problem with the pc versions is that they need a lot of patches to play correctly nowadays. Plus midi music (although if you have an SBlive you can dl a soundfont using the psx sounds so that isn't an issue).

In fact the pc version of ff8 has the bonus that you can play choco world, whereas you needed a pocketstation for this on the psx (which 99.95% of ppl don't have)

Personally, I like the PSX versions because of the controls.

My friend has a pocketstation. He never uses it though.

Dunno about FF8, but I prefer the PSX version of FF7 because it looks and sounds better here.

I like the PSX ports, because they don't take any space on your harddrive (unless you make an ISO) and can be played in both console and PC (with emus, of course).

And I got the PC version of FFVIII too, the movies and the sound are alright, never seen any problem with them. Although Squall has a terrible face in the gameplay parts, and there seems to be cracks in some characters like Cid and Edea Kramer (noticed only in them though)

I have the PC versions of 7 & 8, and I tried the PS version of 7. The 3D was better in the PC, and I can only guess it would've been better in 8, too. 8 has more goodies than 7, but the PC versions need patches 'n stuff . . .

The patches aren't that big, but the problem with the instalation size is really an issue. The FFVIII comes with 5 discs, 1 only to install...

Whatever enhancements the ports provide ePSXe can do better, with the original, these days. The emulation is a lot more true to the original even if it's not completely accurate, and there are a lot more options. Sadly, emulation is sometimes faster than the ports (it's true. I've verified it myself with FF8)

In other words, FF7/8 PSX on ePSXe is like FF7/8 PC done right. But if you can only play on a PSX then I probably still choose the originals.

The originals are truly better in many ways.

You may be right, I don't have the PSX version to compare, but I like the 3D on the PC.

The PC version of FF7 doesn't look anywhere near as good as FF7 in higher resolutions.
