Help Request - Save File
Hello, I'll get straight to the point. I've been playing FFIX using the pSX emulator, and have recently discovered ePSXe to be the better emulator graphically, so I want to continue playing the game on ePSXe, however, I cannot seem to be able to load the save files from pSX. Is there any way to convert my save file so I can load it on the ePSXe emulator, or am I going to have to start from the beginning of the game ? Thanks in advance. |

I've thought their memcard files are compatible with each other. Or at least, ePSXe => pSX is. If you mean the instant saves, or savestates, I suggest you to use the memcards instead. This way you would also avoid any possible glitch or issue related to them. For the memcard, simply try copying them from pSX to ePSXe's folder and configure the emulator. Or simply configure ePSXe to read them from pSX's folder. |

Ah, not good. Whilst playing through on pSX, I mainly used saved states. I did save at the Moogle onto the memory card at times though, but it doesn't seem to show in pSX's "memcard" folder. ;o weird

You should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS save on memory cards for backup, I can't emphasize that enough. Save states can be corrupted or easily written over ('oops, pressed the wrong hotkey') and if your last memory card save was 10 hours ago...things might get a little frustrating

Try to save in the memcard soon using pSX, then try it on ePSXe. The folders for memcards are: pSX/cards ePSXe/memcards I tried as suggested above, what I did exactly was; Take epsxe001.mcr from ePSXe/memcards, and put it into pSX/cards. Load the game on pSX with a quickload, and then save it onto the memory card, this worked. I then put this save file back into ePSXe/memcards, and tried to load the save file on ePSXe, however it didn't work, still tells me there's no saved FF9 data. Anything else I can do? I was "only" 6 hours into the game, so I could just start over =\ |

Use Shendo's MemcardRex software. It should let you open pSX native memcard files and save them as ePSXe's. But, it's weird. I've just been switching between both emulators several times and it seems their memcard files are compatible with each other. I've done both ways passage (ePSXe <=> pSX) and has worked perfectly. It's probably that ePSXe's memcard path ain't pointing into the right place (it creates new memcards if none is found). Double check ePSXe's memcard setting points to the right files. For example, it could be pointing to .\epsxe000.mcr, instead of .\memcards\epsxe000.mcr. Also, you should double check pSX's memcard configuration points to the proper file too. It could be pointing to its own memcard files, instead of the one you're trying to use. Last edited by KrossX; July 6th, 2008 at 13:43.. Reason: Added colors and another thing. |

Aha, got it working ![]() Seems it was a problem with locations as you said, I just double-checked it all and it worked this time round. Thanks for the help, and love the visual improvements on the ePSXe
