Valkyrie Profile Opcode Error

Well, Ive looked everywhere and tried everything I know and I still cant use an PWs on Valkyrie Profile, every time I use a PW I get an Opcode error and it crashes the emulator. Anyone know how to fix this? These are the specs here:

Emu: EPsxE
Game: ISO
Video: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.17
Sound: Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 (Both VP fixes checked)
Saves: Memory Card

Ive read every post on VP crashing, but nothing with opcode crashes. I tried EPsxE 1.5.2, same error, but it doesnt crash EVERY time with 1.5.2, just 98% of the time =P And no I didnt use any save states at all either. This game is almost impossible to beat without using PWs, Id really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks alot everyone.

what format is your image in and what kind of condition was the disk in when you made it? on that note have you tried playing it directly off the disk instead of using an image? and have you tried the game on a different emulator like psx or pcsx?

JonC, i've never had VP crash at all, i've just had sound issues when loading save states (fixed by loading native save)

Err...well thanks for the help Squall...but to Jonc who seems to actually want to help, yes, it is an ISO and the disc isnt scratched at all, at least nothing visible. When I try to run it off the CD, it doesnt even load, but I have serious problems with my CD drive, I guess that could be it. I havent tried a different emu yet, Ill try that as soon as I get back from work, but assuming that another emu doesnt work and its not a "badly ripped warez copy", anything else I should try to do? like certain settings or something that might help? Ill try whatever I can as soon as Im done at work, and I appreciate the help.

actually i dont now. i cannot (the rules of this forum state this) and will not (that is in regards to my own standpoint on piracy/warez) help you with this. buy the game and if you get issues, i will help you. otherwise you are on your own because what you are doing is illegal.

Illegal how? I own the actual CD and its my own ISO I ripped, not some download from the internet. Anyways, I tested the disc on a friends system and it works fine, Ill try ripping the ISO again, but I doubt the ISO is the problem at this point.

if you are honestly telling me that you do own the game and the image you have now is from your own disk then there isnt a problem. but going off what squall said earlier i am a little hesitant because he usually knows what he is talking about. i hate to sound bitter, but its because i could get in trouble myself for doing this. however i will trust you for now.

what format is your image in? op code errors can usually be fixed by either using a different emulator, playing from an image (in the correct format), changing your video plugin, or by changing the method you use to save your games (stop using save states). i would imagine in this case the best thing to do would be to use a different emulator such as psx or pcsx. which way did you test it on your friends system, was it from the cd or from an image? did he have epsxe set up exactly like you have yours (plugins, settings, etc.)?

I don't get why you guys automatically came to the conclusion that he downloaded the game just because he got an opcode error. I get one every time I've tried to play Spryo 3 and gone into a portal, not had it happen with any other game.

i was going off what squall said, not due to the opcode error. ive had those myself a few times in the past and i dont have any illegally obtained material either so the op code thing wasnt a factor in how we reacted here. squall said, and this is true for other warez copies of this and various other games such as ff7, that the way the issue was specifically happening and how it was acting was very similar something he had seen before in a warez copy. what i mean by that is that some badly ripped copies that are put up for mass download can give everyone who uses it the very same issue on any emulator they use regardless of any other factors that could be responsible such as hardware conflicts, bad drivers, plugin settings, etc.

and you can see i wasnt thinking that that from my original post, i was doing what i normally do here: help people with game issues. and my reasoning for backing up squall here is because he has probably been using this emulator and doing psx emulation just as long, if not longer, than i have, so i will usually trust his opinion or observations on this topic. in this case we might have jumped the gun but considering how often we see this sort of thing in question, i dont really see how this is something that you all would be surprised by. if i offended the threadstarter in any way he has my apologies but we get alot of this here and even the slightest wording-error can make us suspicious. emulation itself is a touchy subject in the legal world, so this forum is already walking on a tight rope.
