Can't Seem to Load Any Games on OS X

Okay I've downloaded Virtual Jaguar, I believe it is version 1.0.7 because it has a GUI, I've accessed it through the terminal by dragging and dropping the vj file into the terminal screen, then pressing return brings it up. So then I have a pretty GUI to look at, get all excited, go to load, and the Atari Karts.j64 file in my ROMs file doesn't appear. So... I am a bit confused as to why this is. Shouldn't it detect any roms on its own? I can't even access the .cfg file because when I double-click on it a version of MAME automatically loads and then fails. Why? I want to play Atari Jaguar so bad. Can somebody please help me?
