Re: VJ 1.0.8 WIP Compatibility list

Err, the release on Potato Emulation is not Virtual Jaguar 1.0.8. We're still trying to get 1.0.7 released.

Just so you know.

Re: VJ 1.0.8 WIP Compatibility list

Yes, it is, but we're not working on the same codebase now or working together (yet). After David gave up and we picked up development, he was encouraged to continue on his own codebase after we had some breakthroughs of our own.

We of course wish David well, but we also wish he would share his discoveries with us too!

Re: VJ 1.0.8 WIP Compatibility list

Ok, I'm back online again after my l33t mobo defect (it smoked inside my case ) and I didn't had a spare to work on (at least, not a speedy one).

It's nice to see that Cal2 has released a WIP version to the public. I'm just a bit curious if he keeps his end of the GPL bargain

Rayman's not working correctly for me

Hi,

for me, Rayman is not working in the current CVS. It crashes reproducible after Rayman was given the power to use his fist.

My log output is attached.

Do you have an EEPROMs directory under the directory where you're running VJ from (and is it writable)? If not, create one and give that a try.

If that doesn't work give another shout out (but that looks like the problem).

Problem still not resolved

Checked for eeproms directory: exists, is writable for me.
The game still crashes, but I don't think it crashes at a certain place in the game but after a certain time of playing. I tried it out standing approximately five minutes at the same place - after these time the game crashed.

My logs are to big to be appended, so here is an URL to them:

Thanks for your help!

When I look at your logs, the following seems strange to me :

Code:
About to attempt to load BIOSes...
VJ: Loading "./bios/rayman.jag"...OK (4194304 bytes)
VJ: BIOS is not available...
VJ: Loading "./bios/rayman.jag"...OK (4194304 bytes)
VJ: CD BIOS is not available...
and :

Code:
VJ: Loading "bios/rayman.j64"...OK (4194304 bytes)
CRC: A9F8A00E
EEPROM: Could not open file "./eeproms/A9F8A00E.eep"!
It seems it won't startup with the Jaguar BIOS? And it doesn't seem to be willing to open the file in the eeproms directory. Could you enlighten me/use on this subject?

Regards,

Niels Wagenaar

fixed mentioned issues

but it still crashes *grmpf*

Now jagboot.rom is loaded correctly and from the menu in virtualjaguar I click on load and choose Rayman which I have copied in to ./ROMs before.
The EEPROM is found and loaded, too:

Code:
EEPROM: Loaded from ./eeproms/A9F8A00E.eep
But the game keeps crashing.
Now I'm sure it crashes after a certain (short) time. Could it be an issue with my machine? I tried it with and without OpenGL and the game crashed with using both methods.

Here a listing of the relevant parts of my machine's hardware:

AMD Athlon 1200C (CPU)
Mainboard: VIA-Chipset
ATI Radeon 9200SE (Graphics)
CM8738 (Sound)

Software:

OS: Gentoo Linux
GUI: X.org with KDE 3.2.3
Graphic Drivers: ATI Drivers (fglrx)

Thanks,
jupi

PS: The new log is appended (150kb)
PPS: I will try out virtualjaguar + rayman on another machine with GeForce 440MX... Perhaps it helps...

I'll check this as soon as I can--I've got a lot to take care of this week, so don't worry if it isn't fixed overnight.

Ok, I've tested it on another machine, and it ran - at least for a much longer time (30 Minutes) before it crashed.

This is the hardware setup (relevant parts):

CPU: AMD Athlon 1600 XP
Graphics: GeForce 440MX
Sound: CM8738

Software:

OS: Gentoo Linux
GUI: XFree86 with KDE 3.2.3
Graphic drivers: latest NVIDIA

I've turned out OpenGL-Rendering because OpenGL was not set-uped on this machine.

cu,
jupi

Hmm... This could be related to a memory issue in the form of a memory leak. This sounds like heavy debugging to me :/
