checkered flag
Just downloaded the latest cvs code for vj and i tried checkered flag, i found the game runs better after playing another game first, i used cybermorph then played checkered flag, i looked through the source file objectp.cpp and found that the variable ypos was being anded with 0x3ff except in one place, the jag manual says that ypos is an 11 bit value, after changing the 3ff to 7ff checkered flag runs better, it seems another game still has to be played first even after these changes have been made.
BTW Shamus, to see cybermorph working and looking as it should was superb, and remember to make sure that everyone knows that you have done the biggest amount of work on vj, my only contrib was asm conversion in the original port. I'm not going to make any excuses as to why i haven't contributed to vj, i haven't contributed to any other projects either hehe, i'm not commited to any projects at the moment, Caz |

Re: checkered flag
D'oh! How could I miss something so simple? Aarrrgggghhhhh!
![]() Not only does it fix Checkered Flag, it fixes Alien vs Predator too! Yeah! ![]() And hey, don't sell yourself short--if you and Niels hadn't done the original port the project probably wouldn't have gone anywhere. Besides that, you've just fixed a long standing bug. ![]() BTW, you haven't heard from Niels lately, have you? Niels! Where the heck are you? Last edited by Shamus; October 29th, 2003 at 00:08. |

Re: checkered flag
hehe, the mistake was made in the original code, and it's easy to make these type of errors especially when the jaguar manual says bits 3 to 13. I haven't heard from Niels for a long time to be honest.

Re: checkered flag
Ok, ok. I get the point
![]() I'm online again (allthough still with pauses) since I couldn't internet almost at all in the evening since the last 4 weeks or so. Big problem for me, my entire private life with ip-numbers is suffering bigtime. I have to get my e-mail through the company I work with, I can't even get my e-mail's in the evening. Well, after threads, shooting people, setting the ISP building on fire I can now internet again (allthough it's still nog the 3 megabit I pay for) and check my e-mail ![]() As you can reccon, if I don't have internet I can't also download the latest CVS and there for I couldn't code at all. But this will change soon, I promise! Regards, Niels Wagenaar PS : I'll send you both my new e-mail address!

Re: checkered flag
OK, I've figured out the deal with Checkered Flag (I think). It seems that in order to cram a bit more code/graphics into the cart that they didn't put the DSP sound code in--it seems they're relying on the Jaguar BIOS loading its sound code into the DSP so that they don't have to.
So far, that's the only BIOS dependent ROM that I've seen yet. There may be others... |
