vj on OS X
I'm trying to get VJ to run on Mac OS 10.2, the app launches but I'll I get is a green screen and nothing else.
I have forgotten something or is my 3 year old Mac choking on the emulator? On side note, you guys rock for putting this effort into my favorite defunct console. |

Re: vj on OS X
Okay, I've tried numerous copies of jagboot.rom and my game roms are uncompressed and in the same folder as the VJ, but when I try the command line I get this: ./vj: No Match
Odd. I've also tried dragging the emulator and game rom directly onto a terminal window and this manages to start it but again I get the green screen. I know you're all working hard on the next release but any help would be appreciated. |

Re: vj on OS X
I think there was a bug in the Q&D GUI code. It's possible you need to do the following :
./vj ./ Make sure you put the uncompressed BIOS in the ./bios folder. Try running ./vj romfilename.jag and see if it works. There are a handfull of rom images which don't work at all. Regards, Niels Wagenaar

Re: vj on OS X
Now when I use the command ./vj romname.jag I get a message saying 'command not found.' The only way I can get partial launch is by dragging the vj file and the rom directly onto a Terminal window. The console log says it failed to load the boot rom.
When you say to put to bios in the ./bios folder I'm assuming you mean the folder that had the README saying "put jagboot.rom here (128k)" or something to that effect. Do I just have a bad boot room or am I missing something else? Should I be using X11 instead of Terminal.app? Do I need to be logged in as root? Again, thanks for the help. |

Re: vj on OS X
Just an update. Every game I've tried works well if a little slow. But what do you expect from a 3 years old Mac with a G3 450 in it?
What is the Memmdump.bin file that is created in VJ folder? It seems to break the boot rom until it's deleted and the I change the directory again. Or is this just the same voodoo nonsense as deleting prefs to fix problems? Anyway, fantastic work guys. I can't believe how well this works. |
