Try without a bios file, it'll autodetect the region.

Game saves as in battery saves (or ram saves), No.

Game saves as in Save States, I don't think those would work for you unless the game you have is the exact same disc or iso where the original person made the save state.

I'm not sure on the exact method, but I've beaten the game on 8 star difficulty (so I can pick the same characters twice), then beat Survival mode as well (not sure on what difficulty). After that, I could access mech-gouki mode, and after beating it I could select Mech-gouki in arcade mode.

funnily enough, the easiest team to beat Mech-gouki with was Dan and Norimaro.

also you need to hold down L AND R both at the same time, not just hold down each one of them.

Love your site Borisz, and I just want to mention that there's a new version of SSF out (Ver0.09 beta R3).

I also have a question. How do you save the settings? Sometimes when I load SSF the Cartridge would be 4MB and the Area Code would be set to Japan, eventhough I've changed it before.

Hello,

Borisz is wrong about the P4. Nor all the P4 are equals. The latest with more processing frequency are enough for emulate Saturn.
A Pentium 4 at 3GHZ it's more than enough to emulate Saturn. I have a P4 Prescott 3GHZ with a Nvidia 7600gs gddr3 overclocked of factory, 1GB of Ram, and is enough. I play the games at full speed as the actual capacities of the emulator.

Wow this thing is driving me crazy!
Ive played through Shining force 3 scene 1 and 2 now.
I just started scene 3 and the screen keeps goin black after the end of the first chapter. So I started playing around with the settings a little. I changed which bios i was using and swapped the area code around. Now My memory card is gone and I cannot get it to come back, no matter what I do. I cant even load the states I had originally saved. I will cry if i cant get my save game back. 2 full games worth of work down the drain. Please someone, anyone, help me.

TrainingDay, i dont know this for sure but if you are playing the patched to english shining force 3, from what i can tell that scene 3 isn't translated. That could be the reason why it crashes. Please note that i may be wrong as i have never tried the game before and dont remember the website where it says what wasnt translated, if there any bugs and right now i havent the time to search sorry.

thanks but im not concerned with the crashing. Im sure ill find a way to get by it. and ive alredy played through the fan translated scene 2 with no problems. My biggest issue is figuring out why i cant get the emu to recognize the memory cart. The saves are there, inside the external backup folder, but there doing me no good. the internal saves are still there unaffected but once again, I need the cart. I believe ive had this problem before, cant remember for the life of me why i did to fix it though.

It sets up different profiles for different games, per the game serial.
Load up the emulator without a game in the cd drive to edit the "default" cart/area code/compatibility settings. It will then use that whenever you add a game.
Or press 1/2/3/4 on the keyboard while starting up the emulator, this "hotloads" a compatibility preset. You can edit these 4 presets in one of the ini files, forgot which. Use wordpad on them if the line breaks dont show up.

The p4 eats **** and thats a fact, Prescott is more powerful but it runs so hot that it could melt the ice in antarctica.
As for the games, use a higher compatibility mode or enable SH2 cache or even just run some games that use more of the Saturns power (any 3d fighter that runs in interlaced hires mode, ex. Virtua Fighter 2), I can guarantee it wont run at fullspeed unless you have a liquid nitrogen cooled 8ghz p4.
