Need help with limiting sound speed
Is there some way to limit the "speed" of sound? Currently any game using a modulation format (eg = Shining The Holy Ark) for music is running way to fast and I'm not sure which option can limit it. Automatic Frame-Skipping isn't the answer since my system runs it fine without it turned on but music is out-of-control (speeds up insanely if SSF is not in use).
I've also forced SSF to use a DotClock of 4.00 (write-protected the SSF.ini so it couldn't keep changing it back) but the "SSF Tribute Neo" site is rather vague on information when it comes to going in-depth on settings like this. |

Autoframeskip actually limits the speed to whatever the game is using, so yes, it should be the answer. Either that or Scanline Base Timing (this latter only limits speeds).
When SSF is in the background, it stops rendering the video. This frees up a lot of power for the rest of the emulation, so naturally SSF speeds up, if you don't have limiting enabled. The dotclock does not change back, infact it sets a new value for every game. SSF saves most options per every game. The pergame options are stored in Settings.ini (along with 4 presets you can activate by holding 1-4 on your keyboard when SSF starts up). To edit the default options which are set up to every new game not listed in settings.ini, load ssf with no games in the cd drive. The information on the Dot Clock and the like is vague because its mostly just the stuff written in the readme that comes with the emulator - if you are a developer, you'll understand it mostly fine, if you are not, it won't affect you at all since you can just use the EZ Settings for compatibility presets. |
