At the moment am experienting a very strange problem... @ES runs very smooth with the computer i use at work(P4 3Ghz and 1GB ram integrated intel gpu) while it lags on my Q6600 3,4GB 800 rams, Geforce 8800 GTS 640 OC at home using XP.. so i think itīs very clear for everyone that my pc at home is a beast in comparation to the one i use at work eventhough it works pretty smooth at work while on mine lags.... i asked 1000 times to myself "WTF why is that???" just as you i canīt understand why is happening.. iīve tried several tools and even XPīs refine to set the .exe to one or two cores but without results.... that was until i came with an idea that may explain why @ES behaviour is different at work.. the thing is while i use Windows XP SP2 at work am using Windows XP SP3 here so......... itīs something wrong or something has changed in SP3??? well i donīt know but i would like to proof if my theory is right. all i need are people with different XP SPīs such as SP1, SP2 or even without any SPīs... if you have one of them please contact me and lets see whatīs going on... last but not least am aware of XPīs refresh lazyness but that doesnīt explain why it works so smooth for me at work while here not... anyways it works perfectly on Vista and above. Regards @ruantec

I could uninstall SP3 and do some testing. My PC is about the same as yours. (Only differences being that my ram is DDR2-1066 and GPU is a GeForce 9600GT).

Btw, if anything it sounds like your issue may be related to a driver issue. I've had similar problems caused by outdated drivers. (In the case that you have the latest drivers, you may have to try and older version of the drivers, even.)

It's hard to carry on a conversation with BigIg when he disconnects every 4 minutes. ![]() As I said, I haven't noticed any significant lag in SP3, though I don't have Vista to compare the two directly. However, SP3 breaks ActiveSync so I can't connect my phone to my PC. Not sure about it really.

Ok after several tests iīve found out that SP3 is not the reason for the issue but it seems like the driver am using(the latest one) is causing some problems. at work iīve SP3 installed and the latest Ati 2400XT drivers and @ES still works very smooth.

Yeah it could be with some driver settings because I had a problem but resolved it with putting the nvidia 3d settings to default or better say "let the application decide the 3d config." Hey guys. I've been testing @ES in a vista laptop and it's working good at this early build. Aside from a little buffer for the music playing that we need, it's looking and feels responsive. Here's a shot. ![]() Also welcome LessX. Glad to know another dominican here.

after testing, re-searching, debugging and almost getting crazy iīve found the reason why @ES lags on XP computers... to be honest i knew about that but somehow i was looking the problem in the wrong place lol. Reason: @ES render graphics by using the DirectX pipeline. In DirectX 9.0c, the IDirect3DSurface9::GetDC method does not support transparency effects that use an alpha channel... since am creating a surface with full transparency the whole skin and even objects gets rendered in nothing more than "SOFTWARE" modus!!!! which as you may guess is hell slow and of course it cause the lags. ok thatīs the bad part of the news now lets go to the good one since i never give up iīve found a way to manage that and maybe bring a solution to the problem.... Vista users are save but it is recommended to install Vistaīs SP1 because even if IDirect3DSurface::GetDC() in vista does supports hardware acceleration it still fails at some areas and may cause some lags sometimes(am working to fix that)... Microsoft seems to be aware of that and they added some fixes on Vistaīs SP1.Conclution: now that i know where the problem is and also have and idea how to get rid of that problem, the XP bug should dissapear soon but anyways @ES will always work better on Vista as it supports hardware accelerated rendering on your desktop while XP doesnīt support that natively. so over and out Regards @ruantec
