Hi there, before I start listing the things which can be improved and/or added, I would like to say that this is a very good project you've got going. This is something which should have been done along time ago.
Anyway, to the lists. Additions:

Well, that's about it. I hope that my suggestions help with future versions of @ES. Signing off, Swatmajor1 Last edited by swatmajor1; April 29th, 2008 at 01:17. Reason: Hit Enter Before Finishing |

Hi @ruantec, sorry if this is in the wrong section but I couldn't see a general section you mentioned in the beta post the following
*PJ64 and soon ePSXe fullscreen mode Does this mean ePSXe is already supported because I tried adding the exe and location in the @cf files and all I got was the loading screen? |

How to update your package guide for Beta4 (FIX) - First time users see the second guide in the second half of this post!
This is the last update for a while and if you follow these directions exactly, you will be fully set-up! (Updating just the .exe will only add some new features to @ES) STEP 1 Extract the package to where you want it on your computer (Moving the previous release first if necessary!!) STEP 2 Copy the contents of your OLD @ES release covers folder from your previous build to the covers folder of the new release!! STEP 3 Copy your old playlist files over to the playlist file folder of the new build (Do not do this for the GBA and N64 playlists though as these need to be added again) note:- The newest build supports zip files for all the emu's that support zip files (Zip support must be supported by the Emulator!), if you wish to change the playlist to include zip files then delete these playlists as well! STEP 4 Delete your old @ES package (there is now no need for it!!) STEP 5 - Skip this step if you don't ever use Visualboy Advance or PJ64 or not adding zip files! Boot @ES and go to If you go to N64 or GBA you will need to drag and drop your roms onto the @ES screen again (They will take a couple of minutes to be added, but this is only ever going to happen once) note:- If adding zip files for a section Just drag and drop the folder containing the zip files to the @ES screen in the section they are for! STEP 6 Go to each section that you wish to use with @ES one at a time and click on any rom and the commondialog will appear so you can go to the exe of the exe for that section and @ES will save the path to the settings file automatically for you!! Use the below list for advice as to what Emulators are compatible with @ES. CPS3 = CPS3 Mame = MameUI32 or MameUI64 FBA = Final Burn Alpha (Not Final Burn) Gamecube = Dolphin PS2 = pcsx2 Dreamcast = NullDC N64 = PJ64 PS1 = pSX SNES = snes9x Genesis/Mega CD/Gamegear/Master System = Fusion (Set-up on section and they are all set-up! NES = VirtuaNES or NESTOPIA (Only section at present that has 2 supported emu's) Gameboy Advance = Visualboy Advance After you do this the game will boot, press ESC to return to @ES and then go to the next section you wish to configure! Repeat this untill you have done this in every section you are going to use!! STEP 7 Congratulations!! @ES is now set-up!! Have fun and don't forget that if you have any problems to report them in this thread and they will be looked at ASAP!!SET-UP guide for first time users of @ES This guide is for people that have never used @ES before! STEP 1 First extract the package to anywhere you want it on your Computer STEP 2 - adding video files (Go to next step if you do not wish to add them) Go to the Video section, Now in windows explorer go to a FOLDER containing Video files and drag and drop it to the TOP half of the @ES screen. STEP 3 - adding audio files (Go to next step if you do not wish to add them) Go to the Audio section, Now in windows explorer go to a FOLDER containing Audio files and drag and drop it to the TOP half of the @ES screen. STEP 4 - Adding roms Go to Games and choose the console or emulator you wish to add roms for!! Now drag and drop the FOLDER containing the roms for the chosen console or emulator to the TOP half of the @ES screen Repeat this step in each console or Emulator section till all the sections you wish to add roms to are set-up! note:- GBA and N64 sections will take longer to add, but this will only ever be done once!! STEP 5 - setting up emulators First make sure the following settings are changed in the Emu's that you are going to set-up FBA - Go to MISC tab in fba and make sure Auto pause does not have a tick beside it. Visualboy Advance - Go to Options, in rendering options select Direct3d instead of Directdraw. Project64 - Go to video options and set the windowed resolution to 512 x 384. PCSX2 - Go to the video plug-ins and set it to GSdx9 (zeroGS is not compatible with @ES), also make sure you are using the Linuzappz Iso CDVD Plug-in. PCSX2 (Vista note) - You must deactivate UAC (User Account Control) to use PCSX2 or just use the pcsx2t build. NullDC - Go to GDRom plug-in and make sure its set use the Image reader plug-in. Once these changes are made! Click on any rom in @ES and you will get a box appear (Commondialog) to choose where the Emulator's .exe is for the chosen section, using this and the list of compatible Emulator list below go to the Emultor's .exe file for the section you are wanting to set-up and the Emulator will be permanently set-up for that section! CPS3 = CPS3 Mame = MameUI32 or MameUI64 FBA = Final Burn Alpha (Not Final Burn) Gamecube = Dolphin PS2 = pcsx2 Dreamcast = NullDC N64 = PJ64 PS1 = pSX SNES = snes9x Genesis/Mega CD/Gamegear/Master System = Fusion (Set-up on section and they are all set-up! NES = VirtuaNES or NESTOPIA (Only section at present that has 2 supported emu's) Gameboy Advance = Visualboy Advance "Esc" key will close the game and bring you back to the rom selection menu Repeat Step 5 until you have set-up all of the Emulator's you wish to add!! STEP 6 @ES is now fully set-up!! Make sure you read the readme file for help on keyboard short-cuts etc.. that control @ES Have fun!!

This isnt so much a request but more of a question reguarding the video part of @es.
Is there a way to make this use external video players like VLC? Asking cause it has alot of codecs made into it and im sure alot of people use such type of video players for time savers not needing codecs ![]() Only asking since it seems to take control of the emulators screens seems like it would be possible with a video player screen. (or I could be wrong)

No need. Anything directshow can decode runs (grab yourself haali's splitter and ffdshow and youre done, if you need this much video formats supported). VLC could be itself grabbed though, I believe (didnt try, but I expect it should)

not really that I need it just was curious if capable of doing it. I just liked vlc cause I never had a codec problem and it plays almost every format I throw at it not to mention
some codecs seem to not shutdown when it is no longer needed ( not always but sometimes ) . Anyways thanks for the reply HCR

Just as Hard core Rikki sayd VLC can be grabbed aswell but to be honest i donīt see the need of that... well probably if you wonīt use codecs..
in other hands i just have to make @ES compatible with VLC plugins... that would make the same work in other words itīs like replacing VLC.exe with @ES Last edited by @ruantec; May 6th, 2008 at 07:48. |

Just a request:
@rauntec, since your now switching to C++, I guess it would be feasible for your player to support Game_Music_Emu for emulated music playback. Currently its the most accurate emulation related sound library there is, with SPC support being the same as BSNES, with the right official patches. It should be doable in DirectSound for a output device: I know personally libao and the plain winmm based playback driver works great with it, as well as SDL. So audio API shouldn't be a issue.

In order for it to target more people, I ported the main code to a Winamp input plugin.
Check my forum for details.
