@ES Codename "Evolution" public beta 5 is out!!
@ES Beta 5 is now released
Please start your package fresh (Easy Set-up will make this easy) (Just drag and drop your covers into the covers folder of Beta 5) @ES Beta 5 Change-log * CRC Bugs fixed entirely(Thanks goes to ECC for the tips and links )* GBA, NES, SMS, GameGear, Genesis, 32X, SNES and N64 roms will need to be added to @ES one last time to be able to use the cover-packs that are now available for download(roms need to be scanned). * Model2, ePSXe and SSF support is now included * Can now have both ePSXe and pSX set-up to use at the same time (Press F9 in the rom list to switch emu's) Same goes for VirtuaNES and NESTOPIA * The executable size was reduced again from 630kb to 616kb! * Better Skin support(still not complete tho.) * Daemon Tools support(please edit the settings file manually and look for "DT=" as i forgot to remove my path.. so aes will not prompt you to look for the executable) Daemon Tools is needed for ePSXe and SSF support. Please set these emu's to use the FIRST Daemon Tools drive ----- Required settings for the new emu's are SSF --- Must set SSF to 1,5x screen size. Also go to option, options again, screen and change force aspect ratio to on. Set the CD drive as your First Daemon Tools drive. ePSXe ----- Must set the GPU screen res to 512 x 384, set the CDrom plugin to one of the CDR ones. Settings of the CDrom plugin MUST be set to your FIRST Daemon Tools drive. Note: only Pete´s D3D GPU plugin has been tested and is the only gpu plugin that may work for now. Download it here After downloading the new package, the cover packs in this post will be usable!! Have fun!! Check out my page for future updates(Work in progress) at: @ruantec Entertainment Corner Enjoy the newest Beta ![]() For the newest concept for future releases(Thanks goes to ShaddiX for his great work) check out the pics

@ES is basically a frontend/media player(all in one) but it works in a totally new way........ anyways i´ll add internal emulation in the future.
for now @ES uses emulators processes and control them to emulate games.. for more info check the Readme file included. in fact @ES is a new concept in the emulation scene enjoy it!Greetz @ruantec

Here is some quick feedback from my recent experience with @ES:
- Exiting @ES by double-clicking on it seems a bit awkward to me, I didn't even know how to exit at first so I pressed control+alt+delete and killed the process. - All game covers are not the same size, while the current display size for covers fit nicely with dreamcast it squashes them for the N64, perhaps have different cover sizes in future releases? - Scrolling to the left lags slightly for me - Allthough I read @ES isnt supposed to impact performance, nullDC ran very slow for me through @ES. - I don't seem to be able to switch to full screen with ALT + ENTER on either nullDC nor PJ64. All in all, I like @ES, it's great to be able to scroll between all your games with a nice cover selection and no need to switch between emulators, having everything in one software. Great work guys! |

... i´ll change that soon..about fullscreen... fullscreen support isn´t complete now and very buggy so it´s not recommended to switch to fullscreen at least not for the next 3 days when i bring out a new beta which will have fullscreen support for all emus and also will bring full support for SSF. about nullDC beeing slow... normally you should get the same speeds... check out your settings and look if there´s something wrong. about the covers... i´ll see what i can do to change that in future releases.

ok, first off, when you play music then stop the music and try to play a video afterwards, it would play the next music when you click on any video at all, which is odd.
The second thing is about video, where there is no actual seek, search, and any kind of controls for it. There is no way of going back instantly to your last choice of whats playing like music than doing it the old way, i tried clicking on the now playing button when music was playing and it didn't go to what was playing, i know it might not be implemented yet, but its a force of habit for me. Right now, I am trying to fix my emulator on AES and its confusing.

Hmm, since this is a beta, may i add that i find the scrolling speed too low when you have many files? There isn't any serious speed up while scrolling, and finding a specific file in a large folder can take ages. Or an instant jump to a specific letter could be very useful.

about the video controls.. the video layer has video controls if you check the readme file you will see that you can use CTRL+W to call the video controls and CTRL+E to hide them.. about "I am trying to fix my emulator on AES" what you mean??? maybe i can help you with that. Quote:
it´s still not perfect tho.. but it will be fixed soon. the reason i released this public beta is to see how @ES works in many differents computers and so i can fix bugs that probably we skipped somehow.

First off it looks great and its a great idea but I'm having problems getting it to work for me. The problem is when I drag a folder with my music or movies or evern games, it adds the folder to the cover flow but if I click the folder on the coverflow to open it I guess that's what it does, it crashes the @ES. I'm using Vista Ultimate SP1 FYI. I had been looking so forward to trying this awsome looking app. Pls help if you can. Thanks.

ok, the emulator part is well messed up on my side, i did the settings directory, and the only way the aes plays the emulator is when i start aes, pick a game in the directory, i picked soul calibur, and it says now loading its stuck on it, until i open null myself then it goes into the screen, which it should automatically open in aes, but it doesn't.
edit: it does that for all my emulators, when i load the game up, i would have to start the emulator manually. I will make a video of it.

i mean pics of your menus, covers etc. just to see what´s going on.... btw make sure you´ve installed the latest codec packs.. i´ve tested K-lite and it works great. Quote:
if the emu isn´t started when the loading text comes it means that you´re settings file isn´t correctly configured.

And thanks for the tip Ruantec, that scroll bar is very helpful indeed, although a little buggy (it froze the program once). Still it is not exactly accurate and an instant jump to a certain letter , or even better a combination of letters would be perfect
