Unhappy High Computer temp

I dont know if you have seen this in any other posts but i just got psxeven works great just one problem it runs my processor and ram at about 10 degrees above normal im kinda worried about over-heating either of them. the only game im running is ff7 even running high demand games doesnt run it this high. im running a P4 2.6 ghz no over clocking, i got 1 gb of ram pc 3200(2 512mb sticks ddr) and i have geforce fx 5600 256 mb i dont think my comp is too slow for it

It's normal for the temperature to rise when running a PSX emulator. They tend to use 100% of the CPU the whole time that it is running. What temperatures are you hitting while running the emulator?

Are you using the stock heatsink? If so, you might want to look at getting a new one. 116 F (~47 C) isn't a bad temperature though. As for the memory, put some aluminum or copper heat spreaders (or heatsinks, I think they make them) on it if you haven't already.

Its not that great of a temp but it isn't that high to damage anything. I think your fine. If your that worried, just get another fan. The are cheap and work (also please use the edit button on the bottom rigt of your post)

Get better heatsinks and some good thermal paste, such as Arctic Silver 5. Here's some instructions for applying the paste.

This thread belongs in the hardware section

You don't need to worry about heat if it isn't showing instability but if it is turn it up to 5000rpm and hope for the best

There is CPU managing software around that can handle temperature problems like this.

none. Software dosn't cause heat,it's CPU usage

Sounds like you need to use a better heatsink and apply Arctic silver the right way, don't slop the stuff everywhere and don't put a thick layer, use a laver that's so thin you can barely see through it

if its a p4 then anything under 60'c is fine, and it will slow itself down way before it thinks it is causing damage

athlon xp's are the same now i think, however they will run hotter than a p4 as standard

those temps you guys are getting look pretty standard, i get up to ~56'c on my p4b (533fsb) after ~2hours on full load

if your really worried tho, check your case ventilation because thats whats going to make the big impact on your cpu temp
