Running Front Mission 3 in PSXeven

Hi there,

For the most part, I can get Front Mission 3 to run fairly well on my pc under PSXeven 0.16 and 0.17 respectively. While the game runs flawlessly most of the time, it has a tendency to crash the emulator (when the game is in the tatical battle mode). There also seems to be some sort of flickering problem that occurs during the short combat animations. Are there any fixes for these issues? In any case, it is pretty impressive to see the game running at all (I believe it took epsxe several revisions before it was capable of doing so). Thanks for the hard work Xeven.

Okay lets see:

The comp is a Dual 1 ghz p3 on a acorp 815E mobo w 512 megs of ram. Video is provided by a Radeon 8500, and sound is handled by a Yamaha XG flavor sound card. The had drives on this box are standard ide devices 80, 40 gigs respectively). It is now running W2k, SP4 and the asssociated updated drivers for its hardware.

As for actual plugins, I use pete's Direct 3d 1.72 plugin for video, Peops 1.14 for sound and Peops 1.4 for Cd-rom access when I'm not playing off an image.

That being said, I think the problems I have with FM3 is more of an emulator compatibility issue. The latest version of EPSXE and FPSE also has similar problems (when running the game). I have changed the plugins around a bit (such as as using peops for video, Eternal for sound) only to reproduce the same issues.

i think i heard in this game there are problems whenever you shoot on an enemy's leg, and it crashes the emu. Never heard of a solution, tho.

the solution exists , just skip battle animation.
Flickering problem can be fixed, but the speed will go down... (but i have weak computer (850mhz, GF2mx)) just set Frame access 4 and frame textures 0 (PETE'S plugins)

Hmm, phx thanks for your solutions. However, they sound more like a temporary fix than a permanent solution. Makes you kinda wonder why none of the major emu's can run the game flawlessly yet. Then again, the fact that the game runs at is pretty wonderous as well.

We might be of more assistance if you posted the specific plugin settings.

Opcode 3b UNK (PC 001c000c) (111499,13)
