Unhappy help. can't get psxeven to work.

greetings.
i can't seem to get psxeven to get working. evertime i load up a cd, it reaches a 'ntsc detected' stage in the debug window, then a windows error message occurs (the modname in the report says 'unknown' in psxeven). i've tried using different bios and been tinkering with the default plugins options. also, i tried d/l the dll xeven said in another thread.
there was another thread about psxeven not working...but that was only after it worked before, in my case, it hasn't worked yet. do you guys have some ideas? i really appreciate it since i really want to try out this program.
thanks.

btw, just in case:
AMD athlon 1700
128 sdram
gf2mx400 64mb

i dl'ed psxeven and i tried using it, but it said something about the cdrom drives not being able to be detected because of aspi or something (im running win98se and epsxe works fine with my drives, and doesnt win98se have aspi anyway?), and it only had the peops soft plugin, so i dl'ed the ogl/d3d pack from pete's site and the peops cdr plugin. well, i put them into the plugins folder for psxeven and whenever i go to select my plugins, it gives me this error message. the instant i clicked on the plugin manager tab, the box popped up. does anyone kno why it does this??? plz help me i wanna try this emulator, cuz other ppl have said good things about it
and yes, i have tried rebooting and i get the same thing
edit: i just tried it again and it still doesnt work. is there a plugin im missing, or is my comp being retarded?

Nope. Just a hunch, but it appears that one plugin or other is causing your comp to crash on the plugin selector (All plugins must be queried to generate that page). Given what you said about ASPI, my gut feeling is that its probably a cd plugin.

Anyways first up the Win9x ASPI layer can be overwritten by some software (most cd recording apps eg). Try doing the above suggestion regarding forceASPI to replace it with an official one again. Failing that move the plugin files out of the plugins directory, then move them one by one back in until the error reapears. That ought to find your culprit.

ok im gonna try moving the plugins first before i mess with the aspi thingy, as i rather not do that unless its the only thing that will fix it. thx for your help

edit: IT WORKS!!!! the prob was the peops plugin. i took it out of the plugins folder, fired up the emulator, and went into the plugin selection and it doesnt crash anymore!!
thx for your help & advice lol

edit2: xeven's cdr plugin cant recognize my cd drives but at least it doesnt crash anymore.

well, i used the nero infotool program to chek if there was aspi files on my comp, and it said there were files and that it's working ok, and since there's a new version of the cd plugin that supposedly fixes that problem, i'll dl the new version and test it out.

edit: the link to the cdrxeven .93 is not working, so i'm gonna have to download it some other time, but since it sez on the front page of ngemu that it fixes the aspi prob with w98/me, i'm sure it will fix my prob. now if only the link was working....

i got the new .93 cdr plugin and it reads the first screen in gt2 sim disk (the part where the copyright is), but after that it freezes and this message pops up in the debug screen. i remeber having the same prob on the comps at my school, just that they froze before the game was read
