Dino Crisis. In the opening FMV the emulator lags like hEll and freezes for about 5 seconds. The FMV skips to the part where they are in the helicopter (missing a but of heli flying I think, though not sure becasue I have never seen it) Then the FMV starts again and plays to the finish with about 2 more 3 second freezes. There is also quite a bit of sound-synchro mess up in this FMV. I'm using original CD for this game...
Please note that on my computer this occurs in ePSXe also, although there isn't as much sound-timing mess-up. Haven't tried this game on another rig so it may just be me, or the fact that this particular game needs a PPF. BTW, Keep up the great work Xeven! EDIT: Forgot: Using Pete's CDR plugin w/Win XP commands. All XA playing is enabled also. EDIT: Update: Tried this on a friends computer w/ similar specs. FMV literally 'skips' between one frame and another, it doesn't move like a video but actually hops from the frame being displayed to another frame about 3 seconds later like a slideshow. Each frame is displayed for about 3 seconds before skipping to the next one. There is also no sound. Last edited by felinusz; April 15th, 2003 at 20:46. |

Tokimeki Memorial 2 Taisen Pazurudama's Opening MDEC isn't skipping, but strangely it's only inPSXeven that this MDEC doesn't have any sound at all. It plays okay in ePSXe, PCSX and VGS, so I dunno what's wrong.
Yeah, I have all XA options on.

hey guys here's an experiment for you .. if you encounter problems with mdecs playing like slideshows addd the following to the autoset.ini file. I just wanna know if it's being caused by some mdec flags.
Code:
[SLXX_XXX.XX] WhackedMdec = 255

I've found another game that skips huge chunks of the mdec and I mean huge chunks. It's "Evil Zone (PAL)" And I know this isn't the best place to mention it. But it seems that only on PSXeven on my machine, no matter what sound plugin or setting on the sound plugin (even ones which are supposed to stop the sounds going too fast). The XA Audio runs too fast, normal it's only about 30-40% faster than it should be. But if I use PeopsDSound 1.6 with the box ticked for stopping XA audio going too fast, it actually goes even faster than before with about an overal increases of about 70-80% faster than it should go.
Also Evil Zone is the only game I've found that doesn't run at full speed on my machine on any emu that I have, no matter what settings I use with Pete's OpenGL Plugin 1.7 and I can't use the D3D plugin, coz it screwed up on my machine ever since I installed DirectX 9.The rest of the games I have though run fine Spec of Machine: 1.3ghz Athlon, 160MB ram, 64MB Hercules 4500, ALS4000 soundcard, Liteon 163D DVD romdrive, 45GB IMB Deckstar hard drive |

SLUS_006.87 it speeds up the mdec and plays smoother but i still get the garbage. I tried the cd and iso. the cd has no scratches either so it should be good data. Last edited by ebola; April 21st, 2003 at 05:01. |

The WhackedMdec fix works for Dino Crisis also (No more 'slideshow' effect  ), but there is still weird crap in the borders and signifigant (10-15 second) pauses between 'scene' changes (I.E. when the Helicopter scene changes to the Parachute scene).
Here's a screen of the 'weird crap' I mentioned (look at the top right corner and bottom right corner of the border), this stuf is only in the border however and never actually interferes with the movie. |

Run it from an ISO.

Xeven, I just had to let you know that your lastest version 16.b plays Koudelka's opening MDECS all the way through with no glitches. AFAIK no other PSX emulator will play Koudelka's MDECS all the way through. PCSX almost does but near the end of the second MDEC it freezes. You can go to the game, but you can't see the end of the MDEC. So, congratulations to you. You've done it again. First Army Men 3D and now Koudelka's opening MDECS. PCSX's latest version will play Army Men 3D properly also now, but your great emu was the first to do it.
sincerely, sx/amiga |
