Alundra Shots!

I haven't found any shots from this great game here (a little annoying sometimes, though), so I decided to post some of mine. They're made by using ePSXe 1.6.0 and P.E.Op.S. GPU v1.16.

Alundra was a killer 2d Action/RPG. While, it may not be a Zelda killer. It had plenty of concepts and fun that made it stand out. I especially love the graphics. While, it looked like a SNES game to some degree, it really had it's own atmosphere.

I just recommend staying away from the sequal. While, it had similar gameplay the 3d graphics and cliche storyline is surely something to make you feel that the game should never have been made.

Yes, you're right Zer0Soul, but you must admit that the game is sometimes a bit frustrating too

OK, more shots have been made (lemme boast of getting all 50 gilded falcons, which is not so easy thing to do):

Alundra 2 defeinately shouldnt carry the name alundra, but it was still a decent game, if you ignore those retarded slapstick elements...
Im really missing this genre, except for Zelda there are no more games being made with a similar concept which I think is a total shame!
I like alundra better then Zelda actually, because of the sweet story.

Alundra 2 wasn't really an Alundra, but apparently a company got the rights to it back then and butchered the series. The true Alundra 2 is Dual Hearts for the PS2, too bad people don't know it. It's made by the same company and carries the same basic storyline. The main character can enter people's dreams. But this one is a bit more cheerful/colorful and when you enter their dreams it always represents the person. Like this woman obsessed with treasure, when you enter her dream there's jewels and stuff all over. All in all it's a nice action RPG.

As far as Alundra 1 goes, I played pretty far but got stuck at some dungeon I believe. I haven't played it much really, I guess lack of patience. I refuse to use a strategy guide too. Hmm.. now I feel like playing SNES suddenly.. lol.

Probably Yoshi's Island and Zelda..

Dual Hearts, ah yes. I liked that game. It was a very fun and interesting game. I remember thinking the graphics were pretty nice. They were simplistic, yet had very nice animations and fps to them.

As for Alundra, the comment about it being hard. Yes, but I liked the challenge. In a age where games have become easy to cater to a larger crowd. It was nice to have something like this compared to Final Fantasy 8 and 9 on the psx.

I always thought it was lame that most games were dumbed down before American release.

Thanks for the reminder of this game guys. I sold my copy after I had finally finished it a 2nd time (and died enough times to get that sweet sword).

I regret a lot of the selling back of games I did back then, but I was a kid in HS and unable to buy all the great games coming out without doing that. By the time I wanted to buy it back because I'd missed it, it was gone . I bought it again last year, but without the kick ass manual - but this reminds me that I have it...somewhere in a gamestop sleeve. Probably mixed in with some of my DC games.

But anyway, I loved Alundra, it really was an awesome game that took up a lot of my time back in the day. I also liked it more than Zelda, it's story line & world was a lot more original in execution.

I love alundra so much.
It has such a beautiful athmosphere to it.
Every part of this game, I love.
I've played it through twice on my playstation, and it emulates perfectly, at full speed in vgs, although i did'nt play it much in vgs.

Yes, you're quite right. Games are becoming too easy nowadays... Where are those Amiga times and EoB series? -sigh- When games were a true challenge, not a movies which require only pushing buttons at certain times. Well, at least not all the games are so easy as for example FF8 (which I like, though). Alundra is a good example. Sometimes I think that developers focus too much on graphic and sound, neglecting what is the most important - playability.

Lobo -> you're welcome . More screenshots for you and the others, this time using Pete's OpenGL2 GPU.

Maybe in spirit. I do not know if it was a true sequal to Landstalker if that is what you mean. Climax was the creators of Landsalkter and it's true sequal Ladystalker. As well as the the Shining Force series. (Not the ones for gba, Sega bought the series from them.)

As for a spiritual yes, I guess it be so. The games had very similar styles and gameplay. I know this is off topic as well. I apologize. Yet, did anyone play the ill-fated "Timestalker" or also know as "Climax Landers". You could play as Landstalkers's hero in the game as well as many Climax charcters.
