Re: Breath of Fire IV 1024x768

Which differences did you notice with these drivers? IIRC they're optimized for the newer cards only.

Re: Breath of Fire IV 1024x768

Not entirely true, special functions like render-to-texture and special blending modes (add, saturate, etc.) are still being optimised even for older cards ...

I personally find that certain benchmarks and demos run a lot smoother with every new Detonator so keep getting the most recent one.

I'd have to add that esspecially those function are used for PSX emulation : special blends and advanced rendertargets (render2texture), so for any game with special FX like swirls etc, get the newest Detonators, no matter if you have a generic geforce or riva card ...

The dragon bits and the "Sleep" and "Revolution" spells in the game in this thread are a good example of both techniques at the same time including v-buffer moves so I figured it wise to point this out to anybody running ePSXe with a Nvidia card.

Why do people use scanlines? It really doesnt look good on a PC moniter. Do you all use TvOut or something? I got a New video card but my HDs so fudged up i have reinstall in windows to get it to work. Will I enjoy the Tv out Feature or will it not look right? Will using my moniter look better?

I actually like a small amount of scanlines, it seems to make things smoother to me, but thats IMO.

I like scanlines as well. The longest time I was in the boat of not caring for them. Making it seem odd. Yet, for certain games. You see adding scanlines personally makes them look very smooth and better looking. Just don't have your scanlines set to a high setting.

Scanlines are great! I'm not quite sure what the word is, but they give the image that certain something. I think they break it up a bit and darken the image a little while retaining a rich color balance. For me, they are essential.

Well I mainly use them in games that heavily use 2D.

That's funny... I used to love scanlines. But now I can't stand them, they ruin a perfectly sharp, colorful, and clear image in my opinion.

I wish my computer was powerful enough to play BOF3 and 4 in ePSXe... I'm playing through BOF2 on Zsnes right now. One day I'll upgrade my computer and play all the Playstation games I misssed.

Old thread revival!

I've been wanting to play an RPG lately, and I realized I have BOF4 on my shelf, which I paid $30 for and hadn't taken out of the case. I was having weird problems with my 360 controller and pSX(the drivers weren't reporting one analog axis correctly), but it worked with ePSXe because that was using the Windows section of the drivers. I don't get it either. I might have to reinstall those or something.

Anyway, here's the beginning of the game, OGL2 with "Nice" preset.

Haha I got this game a couple years ago used for 2 bucks at my local blockbuster and beat it. It gets kinda boring after a while but I managed to complete it.

I still have no idea why they didn't put subtitles on the opening animation. They probably don't say anything important but it would have been nice.

Yeah, I was really wondering about that. It didn't bother me because I understood it but I can understand that a huge percentage of gamers won't get it. I had to do a doubletake to my game case to make sure that it was the US version!

Someone told me that Red Steel does that too, the whole having cutscenes in Japanese with no subtitles so most of the audience misses it completely.

I was playing in a window and chatting on AIM at the same time; normally I play in 1280x1024.

However, I post the screenshots just to give someone a feel for what the game looks like when I'm playing and to see a funny shot. Even if they were at 1280x1024, I'd resize them (a few of those were resized). And also when they're a big resolution, it's a big file to upload, and my upload is precious

Here's one at 1280.
