Very nice - the chronicles ones especially look kinda nice - although the super texture filtering makes the text on the screen stand out a bit much. Do you use screen smoothing or FSAA?

Hey

I am running the D3d Dx7 pete plug in, I maxed every feature out, except the very bottom left ones ( like TV scanlines and that stuff ) never thought about the screen smoothing, I will test it out, I thought most of those bottom left options made it look more like it was on a TV though.

Thanks I am sorta new to epsxe emulation and just trying to test it out, for some reason I find even when I change some stuff I cant get the OGL to work for games.

You don't need screen smoothing (unless you really like it), just use filtering 5 and 2xsai. 6 and 2xsai don't work as good together.

I agree with you that filtering 5 and 2xSaI give the best results - however this makes VERY filtered looking textures - meaning that text and sprites sometimes stand out ALOT compared to the background. That's where screen smoothing or FSAA can help, by smoothing everythings and sharpening the background so the different layers appear as one.

Very nice shots Wolfpack44 SR. Castlevania SOTN is one of my favorite PSX games. I also enjoy Chronicles as well. I would listen to Rhombus though, and consider FSAA. I use 2xSAI and 4x 9tap FSAA(courtesy of Rivia Tuner) and the results are astounding.
sincerely,

Thanks guys for the comments, I am realy new to all this screenshot stuff and emulation, but I gotta say, the epsxe is starting to realy grow on me, I find myself using it more than my pso and lcd screen combo ( and yes that sony official lcd screen is hella cool ) but this is just like pure eye candy for me, all the cool things I can do with the plugins...its a realy realy super emulator( IMO ), Could some of you guys post your settings under D3D or the others,I am having problems getting OGL to run the games.

thanks.

talking about big sized pics... i had to resize 1600x1200 full enabled ut2k3 shots... the size wuz like 5 megs... nice shots btw...

also screen smoothing is good for 2d graphics if you play at higher resolutions than the console and screen smoothing makes 3d objects (like cars from gran turismo 2, etc...) look very nice and rounded....

I thought FSAA doesn't help 2d?

Good FSAA can help out 2d - some of the best FSAA in my opinion is on the latest Radeons - 8500 and up all have pretty good. And the Voodoo 5. As far as GeForce cards go, FSAA for GeForce and GeForce2 is not that great, it'll help with the jaggies and the 3d but won't do much for 2d - but stronger GeForce3 and GeForce4 cards can have some nice FSAA which can help 2d as well.
