congrats on finishing the game, it had its highs and lows imo and isnt on my top 5 but thats just my opinion... but a good game nevertheless
>Deus* *"Deus" means "God" in Portuguese. true, but i bet the developers called it deus because its also the greek word for god, and greek words are much more common to be used in games since greek is one of the oldest languages and in turn sorta has an "archaic" feel to it

Actually it's Latin, but close enough... and Xenogears is FILLED with mythological referenced names from various languages and cultures, as are most Square RPG's.

i love Xenogears, I remember first time playing it. I believe its one of the best RPGs ever.
It makes alot of Catholic and Byzintine references though. I want to play xenosaga, i want to know for sure if it is a "sucky" game compared to xenogears

Whoa man! The last bit REALLY stresses your computer. I was running it at about 30fps for much of the last battle with Deus. (Who was a pansy by the way)
I would just like to say that I have just finished the game myself about 10 minutes ago. I am VERY pleased with the game, and I wish that there were more just like it. (But more... finished). I think that Xenogears and Chrono Trigger are both very close to eachother in terms of gaming goodness. I think I am going to have to give them a tie, in spite of Xenogear's second disc. I just can't do otherwise, as Xenogears just has way too much merit to give second place. |

my mad catz dual force controller (i turned on the turbo button) really saved me on the second disk, from all the boredom. Some text stroylines are okay, but the second disk just had too much worthless parts.

Xenogears is great and probably has the most compelling plot of any RPG I've only played. I don't think the 2nd CD was "boring", but it certainly didn't have enough interaction. Luckily the plot was interesting enough to keep me reading. But yeah, the main drawbacks of Xenogears were not enough interaction, very linear, and lack of secrets/sidequests... By the time you can fly around the worldmap, there's basically nothing left to do except for a few little things.

It most certainly did have the best plot of any RPG I ever played. The second disc didn't actually bother me as much as it should have though. I found the storyboards to be very interesting, even if I didn't get to play through a good chunk of the game. It was stylistically done, and that's what saved it. At no time was I ever bored.
